Second baby

Has anyone fallen pregnant or is trying with their second baby yet? We only have one and wanted them close in age however I’m feeling very mixed emotions about trying for a second. I’m worried it could take a while to fall pregnant but I’m also worried that I will have a bad experience like my first pregnancy and I won’t be able to be as present for my current bubba as I was so sick. I’m also still breastfeeding and am not ready to give up just yet. Is anyone else in the same boat? I would really love to have a chat or hear your thoughts regarding your own situation.

I am in exactly the same boat! We originally were going to start trying for no2 in Jan this year, but changed our minds and think we will start trying again in Sept. I was also really sick through pregnant, still breastfeeding now, and our daughter still doesn’t sleep well and up a few times through the night, so still needs all of our energy and attention so definitely not ready for a second yet! Going to see what our position is like in Sept! The second reason is, that means that from Sept no matter when the baby is born we would get 30 hours childcare for our current (UK) 😂

I'm due my 2nd this month, there will be just under 14 months between them both! I'm ngl it has been a bit difficult being pregnant and chasing a 1 year old around but my march baby was a csection baby so I was expecting it to be harder! Feel free to message me at any point 😊

My two are 11 months & 2 days apart, 25th of January 23 (was due 8th of march 23) & his sister is 27th of December 23 (was due 8th of January 24) I had really bad morning sickness for my first, I mean I couldn’t leave the house with out a bucket, it was dreadful. Second pregnancy no sickness. Honestly they’ve been so good! They sleep through the night, everyone around us were saying how hard it’s going to be and everything, but it’s really not that difficult I find 😌 Both c sections

@Paris I had a awful birthing experience with my first which was also a c-section but I’m trying to stay positive about birth if we have another baby. Did you breastfeed your first and if so when did you stop?

@Tiffany this is our situation exactly 😂 I wanted to start trying in September but I’m also worried that it’s going to take a while to fall pregnant. I’m still feeding and my little one wakes up anywhere from 3-6 times a night still and still sleeps in our bed. I had such a terrible first experience and I was in hospital regularly because I had HG and couldn’t even keep water down so I just feel that if that happens again I would feel so much mum guilt for my daughter especially because she is so clingy to me. On the other hand I really want her to have a sibling that she is close in age too 😂

Honestly my midwife has been great at supporting me with everything as well as my consultant and i had a pretty bad experience with my first. I've just had a lot more scans than I would've needed usually! I breastfed and pumped for my little boy until he was 8/9 months old, I could've carried on but he was more interested in food and had started to wean himself off anyway. We are excited to have them close in age but definitely feeling some of the guilt, luckily he has been around a lot of babies and kids and isn't very clingy so we're just hoping he adjusts well! X

The exact same situation! 😂 took us 18 months for our first, so I’m thinking if it takes that long again it’ll be a longer gap than we want but much better than starting now and then struggling! Our little girl wakes about the same amount and is in our bed as feeds to sleep, we’ve ordered a floor bed to see if this helps transition into her own space 🤞🏼 Feel free to message me, always nice chatting to someone in exactly the same boat 🥰🥰

My second in due in July! It’s definitely been a harder pregnancy than my first one! I managed to continue breastfeeding my now 14 month old until I was around 22 weeks with this baby and then my son started refusing to nurse I had a c section with my first and will have another this time and my obstetrics team are happy with that We’ve had a few extra scans due to the close gap and everything has been fine so far 🤍
