Hey, I’m a high risk pregnancy and due to start having cervical length scans in 2 weeks time. I’m just wondering do you get to see baby aswell or do they literally just check cervix?xx

They only check cervix but they do a quick (literally 10 second) check of baby - mostly just to check heartbeat

I had a cervical length scan yesterday and they told me the gender. The first one I had, 2 weeks ago, was a very quick heartbeat check. I think it depends on the sonographer

@Alexandra @Rhian thanks ladies. Are the scans long or uncomfortable? Sorry I don’t know what to expect I’ve had internal scans before so expecting it to be much the same xx

The first scan was fairly quick. Yesterday's was not as quick - it was repeated by 3 different people. I guess it depends on what they see. It's just like an internal scan, not painful but can be uncomfortable. The longer it takes, the more uncomfortable it gets, I found.

They haven’t mention cervical length scan to me. Is this something everyone should have or it’s only if you have any specific underlying condition?

@Sophie mine is due to a uterine abnormality and the fact I’ve had laser on my cervix so don’t think it’s required unless they have reason to believe your cervix could be compromised xx

@Jasmine bless you! Wishing you all the best with baby ❤️

I check my cervix every time I have a shower. For yrs. Probs ocd 🤣🤣🫣

I had a cervical length scan a couple of weeks ago due to being medium risk because of LLETZ. We were shown baby at the start and heard the heartbeat then she went on to take measurements. I know it’s easier said than done but try not to worry. She said everything looked completely normal and measured as expected. I’m going back at 22 weeks for a further follow up just to double check. Fingers crossed for you!
