Will my daughter call me mom?

I’m a step mom to my husbands two kids (5 and 8). The older one I have known since before we were together so he calls me Jordan. When we got custody of them three years ago, the little one was two and called me mom as he was still learning to talk, and once he heard the oldest calling me Jordan he quickly caught on. I am pregnant with my first child now and I’m just wondering how this will play out, if she will learn I am mom or if she will try to copy the other two and try to call me Jordan. Anyone have a similar situation?

I’m in the same situation. So every time I’m handed the baby my parter makes a point of saying go to mummy or I say mummy’s here or something similar when I pick him up. He’s only 15 weeks so yet to know if this works yet or not 😂 x

Good to know @Briony

I have a SS, my bio kids call me mom though. Granted my oldest is almost 2 but I would just reinforce that to them, I am mom and if their half siblings wants to call me mom or my name they can but to my bio kids, I will only allow mom/momma.

I would just always refer to yourself as mama and have partner call you mama too. When she is a toddler she may pick up the Jordan thing at some point as a lot of young children do when they are learning names, but just continue referring to yourself as mama when speaking to her and she will go back to it eventually.

I'm wondering if my 2 youngest will end up calling their dad by his name because my older 2 call him by his name since he is not their dad. But they are almost 2 and 6 weeks so I got awhile before the older one catches on I think

Make it a point to have your own child call you mom. You deserve that and maybe your other kids will feel more comfortable doing it themselves! Ofc you shouldn’t force it on the others, but I believe in a few years they will be calling you mom too

I’d ask everyone to call you mommy when the baby is learning who’s who. That’s what I did in my house. Even my mom called me mommy for forever.

You should let her decide what to call you.
