My neighbours complained about my toddler

Got a phone call from the council today saying that my neighbours have complained because my toddler is too loud and noisy and he wakes them up at 5/6 in the morning… and that now I have a warning and if I don’t control him then serious measures would be taken! What the hell is wrong with people?!?!

Sorry what the hell? What are they going to do? Arrest a toddler for crying? 😩 wtfffff is WRONG with people. Also 5/6am is not early at all. They can kindly f*ck off. I would answer the council with a letter and make it clear it’s a toddler with NO understanding of anything yet and I’m sure nothing will happen x

When she told me, I was in shock, I was just like what the fff are you on about?! He’s a kid?! Definitely will be going higher up with it, especially after reading up on complaints that a child isn’t reason for a complaint! Xxx

That is ridiculous! How is this acceptable? A warning? Hes a baby for gods sake. People are just so strange

What do they want you to do 🤪 Enforce sleep somehow? I’d suggest the neighbours try earplugs. It’s a child.

I’m sorry what!!!! Honestly we have this battle with our neighbours all the time but over our dogs barking! But they only bark when they hear noise!! I know how stressful it is and just want to say I’m here if you want to rant! 🥰

My council said they take complaints very seriously and as this is the second time my neighbours have complained (we’ve only lived in the property for 2 months) then they have to take action!! Not considering my neighbours play their music/tv so loud every night that it’s waking my toddler up, they smoke weed right outside our front door and they’re slamming their doors early hours of the morning. As well as when we go out and their dog is in the front their dog growls at my toddler and I. I told the council this and they said well there’s no proof of that, we have proof of your toddler..wtttttffff

I'm sorry but a toddler being a toddler is not, in any way, something that could be considered as a noise nuisance. Are you 100% sure it was a genuine call from the council?

I'm so sorry this has happened . This is absolutely ridiculous and so stressful for you! Wtf can you do about it even?! "Quiet darling, the neighbours are sleeping." 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

@Rosanna yeah, they said a letter is being sent out and if we have one more complaint then someone will be coming out to investigate the situation’ 😂😂

Let them 🤪 Their investigation will conclude that there’s a toddler there 🙄 Meanwhile record excessive noise from neighbours, so that you have your own proof.

If you’re in the UK, is it worth you discussing this with social services? It sounds quite intimidating and stressful to live with. I think consider running it past them preemptively, just in case they’re helpful

@Rosa I could do, I have spoken with citizens advice and they have said that this is unacceptable, and the council shouldn’t be proceeding with this complaint as a child’s noise is no ground to complain xx

Exactly - but it may be worth exploring having a social worker on your side. They can hopefully advocate for you.
