Tmi

Sorry for the tmi but it’s been 4 days since I gave birth and I still haven’t been for a number 2. I have bad piles & stitches are so sore so it’s because of that. I feel like I need to go but just can’t 😩 has anyone else experienced this?

Try lactulose, it helped so much for me. My midwife said not to push either and let it come naturally to reduce pain

Ask for stool softener. Drink plenty of water. Try Fybogel.

I agree with both comments! I had a C-section and struggled so much the first 2 weeks. I used lactulose when I was finding it really hard to go but made sure I was drinking plenty. Both really helped! X

I didn’t go for 5 days after, I ate so much fruit and fibre to break it down

Stool softeners and drink lots of water. Get a step stool put your feet up on when you sit on the toilet.

Try laxido - it’s gentle and doesn’t give the horrific cramps x

I was the same, was advised it’s very normal not to go for 4/5 days but you should start taking something to help you from day 4ish before it gets to much. Should just be able to get a laxative /laxido to help and drink plenty. I’m 6pp and was so scared due to stitches but it’s was no where near as bad as I thought!

Can you try a suppository if your doc says it’s ok?

Are you on iron tablets? I am and they definitely do not help with that situation! I’m going to get some laxatives to help. I’m pretty sure it was a good 4/5 days after I gave birth that I went.

This was totally me! But I think I wasn't going out of fear more than anything as I was in so much pain (piles were ten times worse than the stitches!) I had zero appetite either so I couldn't eat to go. Obviously don't know if you may feel the same, but it was absolutely fine that first number two 😂 xx

@Brittany why did no one warn be about the piles 😂🥲 they are absolutely horrendous aren’t they. 3 as well! Xx

I held toilet paper and my hand flat over the stitches so it felt supported and this helped me go

Your midwife can give you stool softener and I also recommend prunes or prune juice! And lots of warm water. I gave birth last week with stitches too and was so scared to go but once you start the process in the toilet with a stool under your feet trust me you will be much happier😃 even if only little comes out it will help!! I also relaxed and breathed just like during labor without straining myself! Its actually not as scary as I thought it would be

Side note: if you had a c section let it come out naturally dont push but also hold onto your incision like pressure on it it'll help lessen the pain some. thats the only thing that helped me.

@Brittany did your piles go away eventually?

I had to go and get anusol from boots. They offered me a suppository but I literally looked at her and was like there is nothing going anywhere near that area it's traumatised thank you very much 🙈😂 so just the cream and I think it took about 10 days/2 weeks in the end. I also had a warm bath everyday, as it was the only thing that eased the pain xx

@Brittany and where yours quite large? Just looking for a positive outcome as I currently feel doomed 🙃😅😅😅
