Breathing

Excuse my partner snoring in the background. Does this breathing look right? I’ve just seen videos about RSV and now I’m feeling stressed?!

It’s out of season for rsv (or should be). Breathing seems ok. And I have heard a lot worse snoring lol

my little one is literally going through this at the moment, has been working slightly harder to breathe and has felt hot all day (i’ve recently got over a cold so i think i’ve passed it on). advice from the dr was to only worry if they are feeding less, less wet nappies, have a temperature OR are really unsettled. the advice she also gave me was so decrease his feeds slightly as if they have a full stomach they will find it harder to breathe normally. I would speak to your dr if you’re worried in the morning though especially when they’re so young… x

Nothing to worry about it's normal It's just babies way of practicing to breathe it's still new to them x aslong as baby is feeding ok and nappies are wet and going through a few and no temperature then all is well x

I'm not seeing anything that concerns me with the breathing personally. Things that would concern me would be intercostal recession (where you'd see the areas between the ribs being sucked inwards), nostril flaring, head bobbing, very noisy breathing (particularly wheezing or grunting) or a blue tint to the lips. Little one seems very happy and comfortable. Nothing can beat mamas instinct though, and there would be absolutely nothing wrong with having a chat with your HV/doctor if you're concerned x

To me it looks normal but speak to your health visitor if it’s worrying you, newborn breathing dose look and sound scary but is even normal for newborns to hold their breath xx
