My sister started to potty train her boy at 5-6years old. I was going to do it by 1 but here I am.. he is 2. He might be 5when I start. My baby’s cousins started around 2

Haven’t started. When is good to start?

@Kelly you have till whenever your kids teachers start thing you to do it. Otherwise don’t stress it. You start when you ready. Because I was never ready even though my kids been showing obvious signs. They take off their diaper.. they run to a corner..etc.. just not the right time for it.

You really need to watch for the child to show they are ready as well as yourself. My son I know is not there yet and will not sit for more than 4 seconds so I think I'll be waiting some time

My first started taking his diaper off at 18months since he was ready to start so I started then and he did great with it

@Lisa teacher? Im a SAHM so maybe ill talk to his pediatrician

Did the mini toilet work or should I just go with the training toilet seat?

Thanks!

@Emera i couldn’t potty train with how hard pregnancy is, tiring, can’t pick him up because it was painful.. there was no way I could potty train twice in a row. it also depends on the parents and surroundings. Not solely on the child. Plus the kid is 2 not 10months anymore everyone potty trains their kids at different ages so it’s ok! They have till they start school and teacher tells you to start.

@Kelly when your kid starts school/child care.. I assume they call them teachers most of the time in your country. Not daycare person. We also call them sitters or baby sitters.

My daughter is one already started I have another one on the way potty girls is a little easier she's went 14 times already 3 times poo n 11 times pee I started it off by seeing if she had to when I pee so I say her on the pot when I sat on the toilet when she hear me pee it helped her pee

My son’s pediatrician said they need to be aware of the urge, able to relax, know where to go etc and that’s very complex so she said aim around 2.5 years old

I plan to introduce the concept around age 2 and see how receptive he is. I refuse to do the mini potty because mini potties don’t exist in the real world so we are doing the toilet seat attachment for little kids and we will make sure his grandparents who babysit him have one too.

Around 2.5 years old is a good time to start thinking about it, some might not even be ready then.

When they are showing signs! Does your child hide or are aware and don’t like it when they poop and it’s in there? Do they understand some instruction? My son is 15 almost 16 months old and he is in NO way ready. He’s just mentally not there yet and that’s okay. He would be so confused if I tried that with him because he doesn’t care about his diaper or know he goes right now.

Also girls are a little quicker at learning it and getting to the idea before boys, I hear from a lot of people. So take it slow, that seems like an early time to introduce, but doesn’t hurt to try of course.

I started potty training my niece at 8 months and had her fully trained by 2.5 years old My daughter on the other hand is something else 😅 she started asking for potty at 14 months so I've been loosely potty training and taking her whenever she asks, but will start fully training her when my husband is off for summer vacay (he's a school teacher)

My 15mo baby girl runs to her bedroom and bangs on the door when she wants changed, as well as wants to flush the toilet when I’m done using the bathroom. So my husband and I bought her a toilet of her own and are starting her on a 30 minute schedule to go to the potty. If all goes well, I’m hoping she’ll be potty trained by 2! However, I’m doing most everything baby lead, so if she starts regressing, I’m just going with the flow.

With my older 2 I got a potty for the house around 18-20 months but all we did was practice sitting on it around once a day. If a wee or poo happens obviously you make a massive deal. Then as they got closer to 2 I bought books that involved pottys, maybe found youtube vids etc, at 2 we bought pants/knickers and would talk about how this is what we will wear when we stop using nappies, do you wanna try them on. So it was a total gradual thing. Both mine not long after turning 2 asked to wear pants and were potty trained within a couple weeks. I work in a nursery though and there are still some 3 year olds who just aren't ready x
