Daycare/ Evening routine?

Sending toddler to daycare soon and nervous about the evening routine between finishing work and pick up and making dinner. I have to do everything mostly on my own due to my situation. Any tips?

Preplan as much as possible. Easy meals, slow cooker etc are a life saver.

Im in the same situation. Single mom who works full time. I work 9-5. I pick her up around 5:20 and we get home about 5:30. We have snack and get to dishes about 6-6:30. We make dinner 6:30-7 and eat 7-7:30. We clean up the table and head to bath and her bedtime routine from 7:30-8:30. I then clean up and shower, watch a show and head to bed. I wake up at 6am to get myself and our stuff ready to get her up at 7am where we eat breakfast and cuddle for 30 mins and then get dressed, brush our teeth and our hair etc until 8am. I leave lots of time to leave in the morning so between 8-8:30 we get our bags, jackets and shoes on and off to daycare again. With that said… There’s a lot of night I’m to tired and don’t do dishes or order out or don’t clean up and shower and just head to bed. Some things that have helped me is spending time with her first thing (limits tantrums as they miss you a lot) and including her in dishes (I’ve taught her to rinse dishes). We recently started meal prepping.

For meal prepping. If you can make five dishes and get the small aluminum baking tins with lids (easy freezing and cooking) at Dollarama you will have a meal made for each day of the week for a month. Making the meals takes time which is usually done during her naptime on the weekend but again once it’s done it only needs to be done once a month. You can put it in the oven first thing when you get home or take it out in the morning and microwave it.

@Shelbie thank you for being so detailed! I can imagine how long the days must feel sometimes. Sending you love and light Mama 💛

@Kayla thank you! What meals do you suggest?

All depends on what your preference is. There is so many quick easy slow cooker meals. Another trick I use is smart plugs, that way I can turn my slow cooker on as it's the turn know style and then schedule what time I want my smart plug to turn on for things that may not need the full day of Cooking.

Craft time while I cook has been a life saver. Got cut gloves so my son could help me cook. Prep as much as you can the night before. And go easy on yourself. There will be days when you kill it and everything falls into place and there will be days that just feel like chaos lol.
