Colostrum Harvesting! 💉

Anyone else harvesting their colostrum? Now I’m due to be induced on Monday, I’ve upped my game loll. I managed to get over 0.9 in one sitting tonight 😮‍💨 very proud of myself 😂 just had to share somewhere lol. If you’ve been trying and hardly got any, don’t give up! Mine started as a very thick sap-like consistency and could barely get 0.05 at the start, about a week and a half ago. Now it’s a watery consistency and I’m getting more n more. Some days I don’t get much. This is the most I’ve got so far 😊

Wow well done 😁 What will you do with it? Is this just for bottle fed babies?

@Mel it's good in case baby has trouble latching for many reasons e.g tongue tie or loosing weight at the beginning as it can do so much good for the babies 🥰 can also use it in following weeks if baby get stressed and won't latch to slightly calm them and convince them to latch for a feed. And Donna that's amazing ❤️

@Elinor thank you for the info ☺️ I've had two kids and breastfed. My second had tongue tie. And we had trouble for months as they said it wasn't bad enough to snip. Even now he's 10 he had trouble licking around his lips and makes such a mess eating. Pregnant with my third now so definitely considering this. Thank you ladies x

Well done! I started mine today and I was quite pleased to get around 0.5/6 in one sitting! It really helps seeing this though!

@Mel yeah like Elinor said, just incase there’s issues with latching. It’s good to freeze them and take them to the hospital with you, you can do it from 38 weeks I believe (that’s what they recommend as there’s a rare chance it can bring on labour 👀) and it’s also for if you have a sleepy newborn baby and they’re not latching, you can drip feed them into their mouths to get their nutrients!

@Sophie that’s really good! I’ve just done it tonight and only got 0.3ml, it’s all trial and error aint it!

I’m hoping I’ve collected enough to go to hospital with tomorrow! Eeek
