Has anyone experienced dramatic drops in blood sugar?

I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago and they haven’t told me much as of yet. I have a family history of diabetes so I expected I could have problems. My mom’s sugar has always been high and that was what I had expected. Mine isn’t staying high though. I will feel fine and then it will drop suddenly, it fell to 55 today and I felt terrible. I had eaten several times today so I don’t understand why it would drop. I was cooking and snacking at the time. I’ve been more active recently but I feel like I’m eating regularly. I changed to less sugary foods, fewer processed foods. I was tracking my sugar before they told me I had GD. It would be slightly higher than ideal but I never had any issues. Is this normal? I’ve left a message with the nurses line and have an appointment soon.

Hey this happened to me. The medication made me have sudden lows. It's because there was certain times of day where my hormones were more reactive and would seem to kick in again which messed with my medication. They gave me a freestyle libre.device as I was.having to test.so.often.since it was unsafe to drive. The drops were.happening in 5 minutes so I needed the advance warninf

@Louise I’m sorry that happened. I’ve definitely been concerned about driving. I’ve not been given any medications. I’m only taking my vitamins daily. Hormones spikes make sense though. This just was not what I was expecting from this diagnosis.

@Chantalena it was certainly scary at the time. I would start driving with sugars at 7.8 and 5 minutes later I was 3.4... anything under 4 on insulin is a hypo and I would go sickly feel like passing out and start feeling severe brain fog. When I explained what was happening they got me the monitor. I would drop about 11am and 4.30pm like clockwork!
