The suggestion is 6 months, some stuff has suggested that any earlier and it could give them digestive issues in the future (not sure they can prove it but it’s been suggested so use that as you will😂) Also if you haven’t looked into babyled weaning I’d highly recommend it, found it so much easier
@Charlotte I think the digestive issues is due to the rise in people who suffer from IBS etc in the last few generations, where weaning was more common at as early as 2 or 3 months in some places, compared to when weaning was typically later 😊 Personally we waited till 6 months. Baby needs to be showing signs of being ready - such as sitting well with minimal support, loss of tongue thrust etc. Check out solid starts, they have really helpful info. But yeah by solids the NHS mean anything other than milk xx
Wean at 6 months when baby shows all signs of readiness. Up to you whether you do traditional weaning (purees spoon fed by you) or baby led weaning where babe has no purees and instead starts straight onto foods/meals as you would have (adapted where appropriate).
I weaned my baby at 14 weeks. Every baby is different. Since weaning he sleeps through the night too xx
Years ago people weaned at 3 months. So I have done the same with both my babies 🫶🏼 and they both were amazing with it xx
My mum weaned me at 4 months because I was ready. I’m going to wean my little girl when she’s ready to xx
@Emma 🤣🤣 is this why I have IBS. If you guys knew what I was being fed at 4 months😭😭😭 hahha omg
@Chí that's just from some things I've read. I'm not a doctor 😂 but honestly it does make sense. Ours and our parents generation were weaned a lot earlier than previous due to the rise in the baby food industry, and I know so so many people with stomach issues!
The advice is usually ‘around’ six months. It’s best to wait until six months actual just to be absolutely sure that their digestive systems are ready. It also means babe is more likely to be meeting the readiness signs which are important to reduce the risk of choking x
Pureed foods are solids - as in its not just milk and requires baby to digest the food whether served as a chunk or pureed. Best to wait 6 months as babies digestive systems haven't developed enough before then and can cause digestive issues later in life. Of course all babas are different and yours might be ready for solids/puree at 4-5 months.
