I think it depends hospital to hospital.. I’m 39 weeks and due to have one this week and still don’t have a date, that’s in Liverpool. Some trusts book you in and some trusts wait until the week of which is very annoying x

@Heidi 😱 oh no 😟 I hope u get one soon!

Following since I was about to ask the same thing. I have my 28 week appointment on the same day as you. So far no one has said anything and when I ask I get no clear answer. My family is abroad so I need to let them know when to come to help. Obviously, if they arrive a month after the C-section it's a bit pointless!

I'm abroad, so different for me but my sister had baby in York hospital this Jan and they booked her in at her 20 week scan, so seems everywhere is different. I hope you get a date soon x

I saw the consultant at week 16, he said in our area (Kent) he does the booking form to a central team and they making the bookings. The csection will be in week 39 (unless baby comes early) and we’ll be contacted 3 weeks before by the central team to tell us date and AM / PM slot.

We were told we'll get the date at week 36 and it'll likely be week 39 (South Wales). Am desperate to book it in though so we can plan accordingly!

They haven’t even asked me yet what type of birth I’m wanting (26W, had a traumatic induction ending in emergency c-section last time & adamant on having a planned section this time). I’ve just gotten a letter for an ‘Anaesthetics appointment’ for June 12th so I’ll be 30W and assume that’s what it’s about

In my area you get a call 2-3 weeks before with the date but will always be in week 39 of pregnancy x

I told to my midwife on the first appointment that I want an elective this time (2nd baby) she said she will refer me to a consultant. She did I’m still waiting for that appointment to happen and will see what they say then. But it’s so annoying to not know when . It will be nice if I know the date and don’t need to worry.

I’m in Nottingham. Had a consultation appointment yesterday and mentioned I want an elective and told It will be discussed and booked at our next appointment. I am 34 weeks today so by that appointment I’ll be 37. Depends on what area you live it, if your pregnancy is midwife or consultant lead and any previous pregnancies.

@Lillie 😕

I’m in Manchester, had an appointment with consultant yesterday and will be having C-section week 39, exact date will be confirmed between week 35-37!

I think mine was booked around 32 weeks but I was told it could be booked earlier, so ask at your appointment to see if they’ll book it then. It may change though with scans etc

(Mine was week 39 - 5 days before due date)

I asked for my date at my 28 week appointment and got given it!

@Ella that is nice. I hope to get mine then too😃

I'm 37 weeks in South Wales. I'm having my date next Tuesday x

@Miriam 😮they not rush to give you a date then.. what if no slots then?

Well I accidentally missed my appointment on Tuesday and I was supposed to get it then. So they've had to rebook me for next Tues. I feel like it's so close. I'm supposed to have one at 39 weeks and won't get my date until 38 weeks x

In my trust they won’t do them before 39 weeks they wait as close to 40 as possible and you get the date around 37 weeks x

In terms when they book them in with my first I was given it at my 36 week appt. With my second , my current pregnancy, I was given it at the 28 week appt. They generally perform them at wk 39 as baby considered full term by then. I got to pick the day both times which was 39 weeks exactly with my first will be 39+1 with my second.

@Phoebe I do understand they do at 39 weeks but why we should wait to get an appointment so late?We can get as soon as possible so we can be sure we have one not like they do so late and then we get an answer there is no slot when u need ..

I didn't get my date till I was 33 weeks with my 1st and 2nd.. the consultant will send off the request and the booking team will fit you in to where needed.. with my 3rd I've known since about 24 weeks? Mainly because I have to give birth at 37 weeks x

I got to book my c section for 39 weeks exactly when I was about 34 weeks pregnant

If everyone gets booked at the same stage of their pregnancy why would there be no slots available? You get bumped for an emergency regardless of how early you get your date but I’ve never known anyone not be able to get a date within their 39th week x

@April I saw a few comments on peanut about . They was 39 weeks already and didn’t get appointment as there was no slots..🤷🏻‍♀️

@Reni My elective c section wasn’t arranged until I was nearly 39 weeks. They called me on the Monday to go in on the Wednesday (I was 39 weeks then). It ended up being cancelled after a long day in hospital and rearranged for the Friday. I was told if it was cancelled again I would have had to have been brought in as lower level emergency. They need to and should make safe arrangements regardless of how far along you are if you require a c section x
