Feeding

My baby boy is 5 month next week, he is formula fed and always ate more than recommended. We started on purees and HV warned us he could start taking less milk but it's completely the opposite. We noticed that he isn't full after his usual bottle so tried with full 300ml to see how much he will actually drink and he had no problem finishing it. He has about 6 bottles and some fruit/veg or baby rice a day. I guess my question is, do any of you have a hungry baby like ours and can tell me I'm not over feeding him. My husband is saying not to stress but it seem a lot for a 5 month old. He's not chunky or underweight just super hungry boy.

My little boy is a foody & is greedy but only has 4 7oz (210ml) bottles a day plus 2 meals and some snacks.

@Jasmine how old is your little boy?

My LO is a FOODIE. He’s EBF, 6 months, & we mix purées & BLW, so he gets purées or yogurt, meat/protein, fruit & veggies all at one time & pretty much eats all of it. He tore up some fajitas the other night. 😂 He eats (nurses) the eat same as he did before as well; though it feels he’s been staying longer on the boob.

6 months & 2 weeks

@Erin 😂 we had some fights over our plates too, learnt the hard way not to sit him on our laps when we're eating. I just read so much online how much babies his age should have but every baby is different and as long as he's not being sick I guess he's fine eating so much 🤞

If the doctor isn’t worried and baby is happy, I wouldn’t be overly concerned. If he seemed uncomfortable or unhappy, I’d be worried. Our boy is nine months and eats 3-5 oz of milk four to five times a day and then 5-6 oz before bed. We do a combo of BLW and traditional feeding. He’ll eat six or seven broccolis and a couple pieces of macaroni and a whole shrimp (cut down of course)! Then a small bit of snacks. For traditional eating, he’ll eat half a jar of food to a full jar + snacks. His snacks are usually plenty of yogurt drops + plenty of veggie sticks. (We always let him finish off by picking up his own food and regulating his appetite.) He’s very tall and in the 54 percentile for weight. On the other hand, my niece’s baby girl (three months younger) has been eating 5-8 oz. 6-8 times a day since she was 3.5 months old! She is a little chunky monkey but not abnormally so. They’ve only recently introduced solids. Both are VERY happy, healthy babies.

@Stephanie he seems completely fine, we didn't consult doctor as it's impossible to get an appointment in my area and feels stupid asking for an appointment for things like that. It put my mind on ease a bit though, thank you.

babies are so fast. he threw my sister’s bagel on the ground when she went to hold him. I couldn’t stop laughing! then he got his plate of eggs and squeezed them. 🤣

@Erin 😂😂 constant entertainment with them! And the grip they have is unbelievable, try to take something away and you're in for a fight 😂

oh my goodness—the strength. just some of the things he’s gripped up: my glasses, my face, my hair, my niece’s face + hair, my husband’s hair, my husband’s and also my dad’s beard 😭😂

My baby loves to munch! He’s always had lots of milk. He’s 6 months now and he has two meals a day and still 4-6 bottles. He eats and drinks everything and doesn’t sick any up so I know he’s comfortable. When he is full (rare) he spits it out so I know I’m definitely not overfeeding him. Some babies just love their food!

@Erin he loves to play with my husbands beard but never pulls, my hair on the other hand - pulls and laughs, little psycho 😂

@Luba thank you! It really helps reading all the above, puts my mind on ease ☺ I think I will increase the solids if he's enjoying it so much
