Also had quite a few blood tests - so make sure you drink plenty of water and maybe take a snack incase you go light headed - like I did 😂
@Emily I had a house visit for my first midwife appt, didn’t have bloods done until 12 week scan! Find it so weird how they change depending on areas x
I had all the questions about family history they ask about if you have any medical conditions or your direct relatives same with babies dad (mother/father primarily but I believe siblings too) with any, mental health issues in the family, you do a carbon monoxide test which is just deep breath in then breathe into a tube and it gives carbon monoxide levels, blood test to check your vitamin levels and things, any stds (nothing personal I'm married and have been with my partner over 4 years) they do blood pressure, height and weight to check BMI, if its over 30 they might need extra checks and they'll probably do a gestational diabetes check a bit later on but this can also be done if you have diabetes or a family member does or a number of other reasons, ask about your last period so they can work out roughly how far along you are and things and I believe that's it but I'm 34 weeks now so might be forgetting stuff xx
Mine did all of that plus ultrasound. Mine was at 9 weeks. It seriously went on for like 2-3 hours. So much paperwork and talking to so many different people. And I swear they took at least 10 little vials of my blood 😖 (some of it was for the genetic testing)
If you’re UK based this is helpful - https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/your-pregnancy-care/your-antenatal-appointments/#:~:text=8%20to%2012%20weeks%3A%20booking,you're%2010%20weeks%20pregnant.
She (or he) will ask you about your health history, family history (both sides), test your urine, blood pressure and answer any concerns or questions you have etc! Honestly it’s a long appt but it gets the excitement going 🥰
