Gestational Diabetes

Has anyone else been diagnosed with this ??? I’m 35 weeks and just found out. Idk whether to freak out or what … I barely eat and idk how or why I even got this diagnosis. Never had any issues before. I had a stillborn years ago at 36.5 weeks so this is very unsettling to say the least. I see the Dr. today but I PRAY it’s nothing that will truly truly affect her.

First of all, please make sure you are eating enough. You say you "barely eat" and that is very concerning. Second, gestational diabetes is causes by the placenta. It has nothing to do with what/how you eat so it's not your fault. Also, MANY women deal with GD so you are not alone. Your baby should be perfectly fine, but please speak with your OB about your concerns. Wishing the best for you 😊

@Sarah thank you. I eat in small increments. I get full fast, but I will some sweets here and there. But I love yogurt and fruit etc. the dr is taking her 6 days early. I wonder if he will take her before that too. I meet with him Today so maybe he keep my mind at ease.

GD is relatively normal. I’m on my second GD pregnancy. They have to tell you all the scary stuff unfortunately but the main point is keeping baby small enough to fit through the birth canal and not reliant on your sugars. The placenta is trying to make a huge healthy baby but it’s not doing it the right way. You can eat small snacks, all good. The focus is veggies and protein, carbs as extra. For my meals I keep under 60g of carbs, snacks under 30g and I walk in between meals to keep numbers low. Snacking is actually very healthy for GD
