Silly question

Is the midwife you see routinely a Consultant Midwife? I’ve just had the hospital call to say I’ve been requested to see a Consultant Midwife in 6 weeks but they didn’t know what the nature of this was, unless my routine midwife is a consultant midwife my understanding is that I’ve been low risk and would be able to birth at the midwife led unit. Bit confused and not sure if I should worry, my midwife only works part time so I’m not sure if she will respond any time soon. In 6 weeks I’ll be 42 weeks? I have only got my 36 and 38 week appointments booked so surely 40 weeks is missing ?

The midwife I normally see is a community midwife. I’m not sure if that’s the same as a consultant midwife

Mines a community midwife as well , so at a guess I'd say they're different ? Can u call the hospital back to check if they're the same ?

Consultant midwife is the most senior clinical midwife in a hospital. They would usually discuss any special birth plans, eg if you have unusual requests. The consultant midwife usually doesn’t see low risk patients. So very unlikely this is your regular MW.
