Baby’s kidney not visible

Hello, had my 20 week growth scan earlier today and initially it all appeared well and we’re having a little boy. At the end we were told us they could see only one kidney and I’ve been referred to KCL for further investigations. Anyone had similar experiences and 1. Has it been an error?, 2. Has anyone have experience with their baby having one kidney and what are some things to be aware? Any experiences/ insights would be helpful. Thank you!

People can live with only one kidney, so hopefully, everything will be fine for your little boy. I have my fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻 x

My friends son was born with 1 kidney and he’s absolutely fine! He’s 2 now xx

My uncle was in his 50’s when he found out he’d been born with only 1 kidney! He’s not had any issues and he’s in his 70’s now!

My dad was born with 1 kidney. I wouldnt worry until you know for certain. If you worry and everything is fine you will just regret and wonder why you worried and didnt enjoy your pregnancy not knowing. See what they say. They will most likely re scan and have more regular appointments. Try not to worry over the situation you can't control it Xx
