Birth Control

Hi mamas! What birth control are you all using? I’m 4 months PP and got the Paragard copper IUD in March because I really didn’t wanna get anything with hormones. I had a small period, very light and short period in April but this month is the period from HELL. I’m bleeding through super tampons within like 2 hours. Like down through to my pants and bed! Before baby my periods were pretty average, I’d change a super every 6ish hours and sometimes I wouldn’t even need to do it that soon. My doc did warn that my periods could be heavier with the copper IUD but I didn’t think I’d be THIS BAD since my periods before were fine. Please let me know what you have and how you feel it’s affected your period!

I got the nexplanon, I haven't had any periods with it.

I got the Mirena IUD and I had medium/heavy flow for 7 days and then spotting for 1 month. But overall no complains! I loveee it

I had the Mirena and without I have extremely heavy, very long periods, but it made them more regular. It’s the only thing that ever has and I’ve tried pretty much everything (depo, patches, pills, etc.)

All natural just because I’m not sure if we want more kids, and if we do, birth control is going to mess up my already irregular periods. So we are just being very careful.

I got the Mirena one cause i usually have heavy, painful periods and the doctor told me it could eventually take my period away so i was like sign me up cause before my periods sucked every time, now its easy i get random cramps here and there but my periods are less painful and less heavy. They said its good for 8 years and whenever i want to get pregnant again i just take it out and my period will come back. God willing❤️hope this helped

I was put om progesterone only BC pill so my BC contains no sugar pills so I don't have a cycle. I was also put on progesterone only BC cuz I'm breastfeeding and my midwife dosnt put woman on the combination pill due to the issues it can sometimes have on breastfeeding mothers. I have not had a cycle yet and it'd almost 4 months in. I do not know if I will have one or not as I also suffer from PCOS so that affects my cycles I can go a year without a natural cycle. I do however cramp and suffer from.PMS but I don't bleed

I have the same IUD. My periods are always regular and moderate. Not light but not very heavy. My first postpartum period after this baby was absolutely god awful and that was before the IUD. My periods are lasting about 5 days with the IUD but the cramping is a tad more intense and the bleeding is heavier. I just got done with my appointment to check the strings and they said the heavier periods and cramps are normal the first few months after you get it inserted. I honestly prefer the heavier periods over hormones. Before I had my last son, I was on the pill and I was so damn depressed I couldn’t get out of bed. Plus my husband and I aren’t a fan of condoms, So this option has been great for me!

I got the patch 2 months PP I’m now 5 months PP and I still absolutely love it no side effects periods been normal best one I’ve tried

Depo and I’m switching to a pill because I’ve been on my period for almost 3 months (so when I got the shot) and before that my first period pp was 32 days long. Before my pregnancy I would get my period twice a month for 9-11 days a piece my sisters on a certain pill that you take everyday you can either take it if you want a period or take a different one if you don’t want your period

I got my tubes removed... but normally I always used the progesterone only pill.

I had the copper iud, it is like that. For me totally worth it. I had it taken out and got pregnant on the second baby attempt, so for me I like that there’s no down time when you want another baby if that’s worth it for you

Vasectomy! But I've used Mirena in the past and loved it because I had no periods. Conceived quickly when it was removed (depo is the one known to cause delay in return to fertility).

I have nexplenon I was told it was no hormones I was trying to breast-feed well on it and I can’t breast-feed. I just don’t produce enough milk, but the only symptoms I do get with this birth control is having a longer period that’s it. Not bad.

Hormonal birth control, combo

@haily I got the depo once and I was a bleeding raging bitch for 3 mo
