First, a quick introduction: what is the Peanut app?

Simply put, the Peanut app is a social network created just for women.

Peanut welcomes women across key stages of life, from trying to conceive to pregnancy, motherhood, and menopause.

Peanut is a safe space for women to chat, meet, have genuine conversations, and make meaningful connections.

So how does Peanut app work, and how do you use it? Let’s find out.

How do you use the Peanut app?

When Peanut was first launched in 2017, it was created as an app for moms, which summed us up pretty well at the time.

Since then, we’ve evolved to welcome those trying to conceive, pregnant women, and women going through menopause.

Let’s dive into how the Peanut app works, and how you can make the most of it.

1. Creating your profile

The first step to making connections on the Peanut app is to create your profile.

Follow the prompted steps on how to create your full profile, adding photos, filling out your bio, choosing the Peanut packs that best represent you, and adding your answers to our prompts.

The more you fill out your profile, the more likely it is that you’ll make more connections with other women on Peanut.

How do we know that? Well, we asked our community, and the majority of women on Peanut said they always looked for bio information before waving at someone.

Every part of Peanut is there for a reason: to help you make connections ‒ it’s how the Peanut app works!

Also, if there’s a particular topic or word that you’d rather avoid, we also have a mute keyword feature, where you can add any topics or words that you find triggering or upsetting.

We’re here for you, and we want you to feel safe and welcome.

What should I write in my Peanut bio? Do you have any Peanut bio examples?

Not sure what to write in your Peanut bio?

Here are a few things to include in your Peanut bio:

  • Job (of course, stay-at-home mom counts!)
  • What stage of womanhood you’re currently in (TTC, pregnant, motherhood, or menopause)
  • Why you joined Peanut
  • Hobbies
  • A fun fact about yourself

So an example of a Peanut bio could be:

“Hi! I’m a stay-at-home mom of two under two (yes, it’s as exhausting as it sounds!).
Looking for more to share hints, tips, and rants.
Avid bookworm, into astrology, aspiring make-up artist, obsessed with all things Disney.
Fun fact about me: I have a sandwich named after me at my local deli! 😂”

Just write what’s true for you and you’ll find your people on Peanut.

2. Making connections

Here we go ‒ getting to the best part!

Making connections with other women is what Peanut is all about.

Once you’ve filled out your profile, click on the icon to the far left on the bottom of the Peanut app: the Discovery page.

There, you can swipe up to ‘wave’ at potential connections, or swipe down to skip them for now.

If you both wave at each other, you’ll connect!

Then, you can start chatting right away.

3. Chatting with other women

Once you’ve made a mutual connection with another woman on Peanut, it’s time to start chatting!

Not sure what to say? We’ve written a few fun ice-breakers to get the conversation started.

You can send gifs, photos, your location (handy if you decide to meet up IRL), and do video calls with your connection.

One quick thing to note: try not to ‘ghost’ your connections when they send you a message.

It’s part of how the Peanut app works ‒ in fact, many of our Peanut community have pledged the Anti-Ghosting Pact.

4. Taking part in Pods

Peanut Pods are something we’re more than a little proud of here at Peanut.

Pods are live audio-only chat rooms, usually on specific topics, like TTC chats, birth experiences, moms book clubs, menopause relief recommendations, and even just 3 am chats (gotta love those nighttime feedings!).

No need to worry about putting on make-up, fixing your hair, or grabbing your ‘Instagram-ready’ clothes ‒ it’s just audio: all the chat, none of the pressure.

5. Finding friends across the globe

We’re living in the age of social media, where we can make connections across continents and cultures.

At Peanut, it’s no different!

With our Go Global feature, you can travel around the globe without leaving your house, making connections with women everywhere.

Keen to try out your Peanut passport?

Simply select the ‘Global’ tab at the top of your Discovery page, give it a spin, and see who you’re matched with!

We’ll look at your interests and life stage to suggest your new match.

Then it’s up to you to get chatting!

6. Sharing your stories and seeking advice

New to mamahood? Not sure how to start trying to conceive? Wondering how to cope with pregnancy or menopause symptoms?

Then write a post!

Switch over to your Feed (the middle icon at the bottom of your Peanut app), and you’ll see posts from other users based on your life stage.

There, you can write your own post, with pictures, polls, or even just a status with your connections.

Posts that aren’t statuses can be shared with anyone in the Peanut community, but you always have the choice to make the post anonymous if you’d rather hide your identity.

Then, our Peanut community can comment on your post with suggestions, advice, or even just a sympathetic ear.

The openness and non-judgmental women of the Peanut community are how the Peanut app works ‒ it’s what makes us special.

You can also filter the Topics you’d like to see in your feed, so you can see more of what you want to see.

7. Joining Groups

Groups on Peanut are mini-communities of women around a specific topic, life stage, and/or location.

So you’ll find Groups for mamas of twins, women who are trying to conceive with PCOS, menopausal women in Canada, and so many more!

You can create your own Group, join our Groups created by Peanut, and join Groups created by other women in the Peanut community.

8. Getting rewards

As part of our commitment to creating a safe space for women across all life stages, we created Peanut Rewards.

Plus, we want you to get the most out of Peanut, so when you hit a Peanut milestone, you’ll earn a badge as a reward.

You can earn badges for filling out your Peanut profile, chatting with other women, creating your own Group, and generally being kind and considerate on Peanut.

It’s our way of saying ‘thank you’ ‒ you’re a big part of how the Peanut app works so well.

Is the Peanut app any good?

Of course, we’re going to say the Peanut app is amazing, delightful, ground-breaking, innovative, and a fabulous place for women looking to make friends.

But don’t just take it from us.

Have a peek at our reviews or have a look at our ratings from over 6,000 reviews on the Apple App Store and Google Play, averaging around 4.3 out of 5 stars.

Or browse one of the stories shared by our Peanut community, like Kayla, Christina, or Tia and Marie.
