New concerned mom,

Hi I'm 5 weeks and 6 days and I have recently received news that I have a cyst on my left ovary and have a chance of being high risk because of my height and how petite I am I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what you have done to help this is my first baby so it does worry me

Hi! I have heard that having a cyst on your ovary is pretty common but I’m not sure how/if it effects pregnancy. Have you talked to your dr/midwife about it? Also, what is causing you to be high risk? :)

Congrats love 💕 🎉

I have my OB says it should be fine and go away on its own and the fact that I'm 4'11 and have a petite figure they say I should be careful or I can be high risk my mother was high risk with me and my siblings as well

I was told the the same when I had a check scan at 7 weeks. They said I had a cyst on my left ovary and it was still there at my 10 weeks scan. I don't know if it disappeared or it is still there. They said though it's quite common, and it helps to keep the pregnancy in the early stage. They said it should disappear in the late stage. If not, the Dr should monitor your pregnancy through out. But they never said to me how much it affects the pregnancy

I don’t know how an ovarian cyst would affect the baby, however I do know that they are relatively common and cause no issues (except being painful) when you are not pregnant. I don’t really see how it could hurt the baby. The thing about being petite I don’t think makes you high risk. A lot of women are petite our bodies are not going to make a baby bigger than we can give birth to. I’m 5’3 110 lbs and my kids got a huge dang head and I pushed that kid out medication free with no issues. Trust your body❤️ it knows what it’s doing

I agree with this! I was 100lbs and 5ft and it did not make me high risk because of that :) our body’s know what to do! You will be ok :)

Thank You Ladies definetly just going to keep monitoring myself and relaxing thanks so much

I have a cyst of my left ovary but not been told is dangerous as it can be common. Mine is very small though x

I had a cyst while pregnant too. Apparently it’s common! Congrats and best of luck!

Happy to see how common this is. I have a cyst on my ovary but it’s pretty large (8cm+) Its being monitored by a gynaecologist separately to the baby and looks like I’ll be having surgery in the second trimester which is a couple of weeks away. Cysts in general are no big deal and nothing to worry about it’s only if they get too big which mine is. Also I’ve been told surgery during pregnancy is not a big deal at all so try not to worry it’s out of your hands anyway!

Maybe get a second opinion? I'm your age, also have cysts and 4'11. Was never told I was high risk and i had my baby with no issues 🤷🏽‍♀️

Yes I have a cyst on one of my ovaries too and it’s not affected my pregnancy at all and didn’t make me high risk. 37 weeks now and waiting for him to come I got he world!! X

I had exactly this and after a few weeks, they couldn’t even detect the cyst. They said if I happen to have a c section, they can take of it then if it’s still there or it can sometimes just disappear by itself. I’m now 29 weeks and they never see it when I’ve had my scans and it doesn’t cause me any issues 😊 I’m also petite (5ft 1) and haven’t been classed as high risk x

My mom had a cyst on her ovary during pregnancy and doctors gave an option to remove it. She declined that and waited for baby to come. Baby (my little sis) came healthy and fine, pregnancy was normal, cyst was removed a few weeks later. Just weigh your options but don’t worry too much.

Hi! Similar to what some of the other ladies are saying I too have a cyst on my left ovary which was discovered during an ultrasound. It hasn’t caused me any issues during the pregnancy and currently 39+6 weeks pregnant. I too am 4’11” and was concerned about being petite while pregnant but I can say my pregnancy was very smooth, although now I just feel huge and achy with carrying all this extra weight I’m not used to. My doctors said they aren’t concerned about delivery but I’m being induced tomorrow so we will see what comes of it. Good luck with your pregnancy, you got this!!

I am small and had a cyst on ovary. The cyst disappeared after the baby grew inside me. It was painful first trimester. Had a c section everything worked out !! Child is bigger than me now lol

I had a cyst at the beginning had a lot of pain on one side. Went for a early scan due to having a few scares but the doctor said having a cyst was a good thing as it realizes something that’s good for the early on pregnancy. Went for my 12 week scan and it has gone. It’s very common by the sounds of it xx

Excuse me? Size is not an indication of risk....

I had cysts during my pregnancy. Baby is happy and healthy. I still have cysts on now but they don’t seem to bother me most days. However if you very are concerned ask your doctor because they are going to be able to give you a customized explanations based upon your personal information.

Cysts are completely normal in pregnancy and often go unnoticed! Funnily enough the pain that the cyst was causing me was how I found out I was pregnant 😂 Basically when your ovaries release an egg, the sack is then empty which causes an excess of liquid waste and growth of the cyst. It should disappear over the next few weeks and shouldn’t cause any probs just keep an eye on it! X

I had two on my left! The ultrasound tech said pregnancy sometimes helps them go away? At my 41 week check (yes, I was 11 days overdue...😅) she said she couldn’t find it!

All these answers are definitely more helpful and have me less worried now Thank You all So Much I greatly appreciate it

I have PCOS (so loads of cysts) and I just had my dating scan today... all is well with baby and no concerns... they haven’t even brought up the fact I have cysts 🤷🏽‍♀️

They thought I might have a cyst during my second pregnancy. They said they usually go away on their own and it's nothing to worry about.

I had two cysts rupture during my pregnancy, I am currently 37 weeks. If you get a lot of pain get it checked out, I was told that this is very uncommon to happen in pregnancy. But even with the ruptures and a bit of internal bleeding they really didn't seem concerned over them as it doesn't really affect bub. The cysts should go away and even if they do rupture and you get bleeding it dissolves (though very uncomfortable).

I have had a cyst for three pregnancies now they just monitor it when you have your ultrasounds, my third pregnancy it did grow a few cms and did cause some strong cramps every now and then but once baby comes out dr said it won’t bother me anymore 🤷‍♀️

I found out through a laparoscopy that I had two ovarian cysts while I was pregnant and had no complications. No one even said anything about a risk, and now I have two babies, so idk.

A lot of woman have cyst during pregnancy.. they’re not usually anything to be concerned about . Most of the time they pop on their own without causing any pain or negative effect . Just keep a positive mindset and understand that every woman’s body and experience is different.. it’s good to listen to advice and the opinions of others but most importantly listen to your body .

I had them as well. A lot of women have ovarian cysts and never even know. Mine didn’t cause any issues and I’m very small as well.

I had a cyst on my left ovary. Midwife said it should go away in a few weeks and it did. Usually happens because that’s where your egg had been released from and nothing to worry about. Keep asking them to get at your scans x
