Hi everyone, Iβm hoping to get a bit of advice or hear from other mums who may have been through something similar π€
My daughter is currently under a hospital specialist for being underweight, and today we saw a new (first-year) doctor. He didnβt seem very confident, which already made me feel a bit uneasy.
During the appointment, he said she has gained some weight, which is great β but I brought up a concern Iβve had for a while about possible diabetes, as she has quite a few symptoms and we have a strong family history of it.
They did a blood sugar test, and her level came back at 7.3 after not eating for around 3 hours. The diabetic nurseβs reaction made me feel like that was high, so I asked if it was normal. The doctor said yes, it was normal β but the nurse then said no, it was high. The doctor then repeated that it was normal and said we were there about her weight, not that.
Iβve come away feeling really unsettled and honestly a bit dismissed. Now I feel like Iβve got a new worry on my mind, and Iβm not sure what to think or do next (I have already contacted our GP for a follow-up).
Has anyone experienced anything similar with their child? Or had slightly raised blood sugars and what happened next? Iβd really appreciate any advice or reassurance β€οΈ
