NYC moms

Hello After months of dreaming, doubting, and planning during naptimes… I finally found the courage to launch something close to my heart. 💛

I’m excited (and a little nervous!) to share that I’ll be hosting my very first Tiny Toes Playgroup meetup on August 1st at Vancourland Park in the Bronx! 🌿✨

As a former teacher turned stay-at-home mom, I’ve deeply felt the need for more connection, play, and sensory-rich experiences for our little ones—and ourselves. Now with my toddler in tow, I’m bringing that vision to life with a group rooted in nature play, music, and messy, magical sensory fun for babies 6–24 months.

Dyeing squishy (cooked) pasta - techniques?

Hi mamas, I’m back with another question.

What are your preferred recipes / methods for dyeing cooked pasta?

I follow some instructions I found online which said to boil in plain water, drain, add food colouring and squish around in a zip lock bag to cover, then rinse under cold water in a colander.

This method didn’t work well for me. The pasta felt sticky and the colour looked uneven. I added a small cup of water which removed the stickiness but meant it was a bit sloppy and cold.

I left the pasta to cool after draining. Is this where I went wrong - should I have left it to cool in the water instead, THEN drained? I used gel food colouring as find this best for rainbow rice. Would liquid or paint have been better?

Appreciate any tips or methods that work well for you 🙏🏻 my little boy is just starting to embrace sloppier, wet, squishy textures after shying away from this when he was younger, so it’s something I really want to encourage. Thank you!

Arctic tray with some play figures!

Finally happy with this one, although probably overdid the variety of textures a little bit!
