My baby doesnt like sleeping in his crib

I feel like I'm failing as a mom in terms of sleep training my baby in his crib, my LO is almost 3 months old and I'm trying my best to let him sleep on his own in his crib during naps and night time but everytime me and my husband tries he cries and turns red. So we have parents guilt and we take him out of the crib and sooth him by rocking him or putting him on my chest to fall asleep. 😪 does anyone else have this problem? And how do I make him like sleeping in his crib and on his own? Any suggestions would be a great help. I want him to learn to self sooth and sleep on his own but he only finds comfort when I hold him.

My baby will sleep in his bassinet during the night but won't in the day. I don't know why, but maybe try hold him in your arms and get him to sleep, don't hold him to your chest and once he is deep asleep, try to put him down? I'm not sure if this will help but its what is working at the moment for us. Keep trying, it might take him a little bit to get used to it. I also found that my baby doesn't like the quiet, he also needs sound. Maybe try that? I hope this helps

Thank you, yes we've tried to put him down in the crib once he falls asleep in our arms, he'll just wake up and cry or if we get lucky he stays asleep for about 10 or 15 mins then he wakes up 😪 you're right we just have to keep trying its just that sometimes i feel like its my fault thats why he cant fall asleep on his own. 😪 just mom guilt i guess

It's definitely not your fault. You haven't done anything wrong to make it your fault. Every baby is different with sleeping. As frustrating as it is, it takes time to figure out what will work for you and your baby. My first baby hated her bassinet and her cot for ages, it was horrible. But she eventually got used to it. My baby boy has been easier with it. I also let him have a nap in his swing, since he has started to like it. I know he is safe and will be okay. If you have something like that, maybe give that a go?

I don’t know if you’re on Instagram or not but if you are follow cradlednz. Heather is a Dr, a lactation consultant and is accredited in Neuroprotective Development Care. Her posts and information make you feel like things like your baby preferring to sleep on you are ok and normal for babies and not to stress about it 😊

Yes! I just followed her. Reading everything on her ig made me feel better thank you for letting me know ♥️

I have 5 kiddies and I wouldn't bother trying them at this stage especially because they go through a clingy stage. Wait a couple of months

Probably will do that. I am enjoying him being all clingy atm its just some moms online and people ik keep telling me i should train him now or else it would be harder for me to do so in the future 😪 i guess i shouldnt let them make me feel bad about it.

I always put mine down in our bed then move him (at night) to his bassinet. When he wakes (4-5am)I’ll give him a feed then put him back to his bassinet. In the beginning I used to rock him until he fell asleep however he seems to self settle now (all naps during the day are not like this lol). So I say, start a routine and each day try to introduce something else. It might be leave him in his crib and rub his hair? (That works for me).

Hey Paula - you are definitely not failing! I dont have any advice but I second what Sarcha said. I'd say that would be what I would do if I wasn't co-sleeping with my LO. Hooe it goes well and you find a solution!
