@Kimberly we’ve definitely let him pick out his underwear and explained that he should use the potty and not his underwear. Buuut he still typically doesn’t tell us until after the fact, if at all
I wasn’t rushing, didn’t even attempt then Like at 2yr4mos she was always telling us right after she did a poop or pee in diaper, never before so I said hmm she’s almost ready. Then month & 1/2 before her 3rd bday, she started saying mommy I go pee in potty & sometimes nothing happened but I was ok here we go. I did the 3 day no diaper method & was giving her drinks & 1st day was all me every 15-20 min asking her you gotta go? Set a timer & stayed on it. Then went longer if she did go, like 25-30min. I watched her actions & soon she started getting the feeling & we were on a roll, 2nd day was same & by 3rd day she really could get it & felt the feeling. (Still we’re putting pull ups on at night) she just really got it this way. Stayed home for the 1st week too scared to go anywhere & went straight to panties & not pull ups except at night. She stays dry thru the night but I still haven’t stopped doing that. We let her pick her panties too. —I take a travel potty with us in the car.
@Kay darn sorry. It took me a year off and on and just before she turned 3 we also started talking about it daily. And how her cousins go in the big girl potty too.
My daughter has pee down (started at 3) but still won’t even attempt to poop. She pooped right at bed time after I’ve put a diaper on while we read books
With my daughter the 1 thing that got her excited and she started telling us right away was we let her pick out underwear. She didn't want to get them wet. That's what worked for her.
