I just traveled with my three month old and our Evenflo Sunny (which is a compact stroller) and it was a breeze! We checked it at the gate so he could sit in it while we were at the airport. I have to say, I don’t know if it actually would have been any more difficult with a full size stroller though 🤷🏼♀️ I wouldn’t waste money on a second stroller just for the occasional trip tbh
@Wendy when you travel to a certain destination do you end up using the compact stroller outside of the airport too? Is it better than your full sized stroller ? I’m kinda torn because I invested in the full sized stroller (went with limited edition color too 🤷🏻♀️)
@Sierra thanks sierra - I invested so much on a full sized one but now I’m having second thoughts about the size for travelling (we do intend to take a few trips this year with the baby though)
@Priyanka i know what you mean! I would feel the same. It may depend on what you’re planning to do. For example if you’re going on long day trips out of the house I would prefer full size bc there is more storage and more comfy, easier to maneuver too. If you’ll be getting in and out of the car a lot or crowded places I would do compact. I’ve travelled with both bc of the same dilemma 😂 But I will say traveling with a full size in the airport is not a whole lot more difficult than compact. I say travel with the full size and see if it’s difficult and then make a decision from there for the next time. But I don’t think you’ll have a problem with the full size :)
I don’t know if the size of the stroller matters as long as your checking it in gate. Went on air Canada with a UppaBaby Minu ( and we took our baby in her Nuna car seat in the flight) with no problems. My only recommendation is to have a stroller bag, make sure you close the stroller and put it inside of its bag when handing it to the crew at the gate to avoid damaging the stroller because most of airlines do NOT handle them with care. Good luck 👍
I traveled with my car seat, base and stroller and it was all checked at the gate. Super easy. They bring it out as you get off the plane
We tools our double Phil and teds air Canada recently and had no problems
Yes! I have traveled with my whole full stroller set. Car seat / base + stroller. And I’ve pushed baby right through TSA with stroller + car seat
@Yoyo and lotta questions thank you! I got a gate check bag for the full size stroller but I’m not sure if the airline would accept the size at the gate
@Kanza thanks Kanza- do they check the size of the stroller before they let you take it to the gate?
@Tanya do they check during boarding if the size of the Phil and teds fit their spec? Air Canada website seems to have the smallest spec for strollers allowed - so weird
@Priyanka no they didn’t. My understanding is that they will collect the strollers when you enter the airplane and take them down with the luggages . Once you reach they will bring them up first thing so when families leave the airplane they will find their strollers waiting. I guess size doesn’t matter
@Tee so we don’t have to fold the stroller and put it through the baggage scanner? we just roll it through the regular human scanner route ? (Like when we walk )
@Priyanka yes! . When you go through tsa they’ll guide you through. 🙂 love how they make it so easy for us! And they even let me walk through with my baby’s bottle with milk in it. Only when you go through tsa they let you, but when to actually start boarding, they take your stroller and car seat, if you didn’t purchase a seat for your child’s car seat. They’ll bring it down to check in or have stroller compartments up front.. you’ll get it back when you arrive at your destination

@Kanza thank you - that is really helpful
@Tee thank you ! Now I’m less anxious about the security check 😬
@Yoyo and lotta questions oh wow!! that’s really helpful- thank you so much - I’m gonna carry the one I have instead of getting a new smaller one :)
I’m not sure about that specific airline but I have flown with a full size stroller and just gate checked it. Now that I bought a compact stroller though I will say it’s easier to travel with a smaller stroller
