Covid / menstrual alterations

Has anyone experienced a totally different length and volume of period after having covid?. I'm still having monthly periods at 47, 3 days normal, light in volume. I'm just getting over covid for a 4th time 🙈, and started my period and by day 4 it was ramping up... Day 6 clot after clot, soaked... Ended up in A&E... Day 8 now and still heavy. I've read a cpl of medical studies saying 50% of women did see alterations in their menstrual flow and length of time after having covid. Ive only been given Transamanic Acid.

@Sally I was scheduled to have a scan today internal and external and it’s been out off til 20th now

I had a blip in my periods for 4 months after covid . I didn’t bleed for - full 4 months . I was like omg I’m starting menopause . At the time the doctor pointed out to me it seems to be a common theme for women after covid and it effecting cycles

@Sally I'm also a nurse bit made my own informed decision at the time not to get it, iv absolutely no issue with those who choose to get it. Its a personal choice and rightly so but iv seen quite a lot in the last couple of years causing me to raise my eyebrows

After having covid I noticed I skipped a period and then the next month had 2 very close together. I noticed my cycles have got lighter unsure if this bit directly related to covid. I went through a stage of very heavy periods n clots.

@hayley be interesting to see what assistance you get?.. Keep in touch. X

Ah bless u yeah I do from doctors been on them a couple of weeks now x

@hayley no, this is day 9 I think, and I've not done anything excessive.... I nipped to the supermarket for 1 thing and literally I could see my jeans getting flooded... I panicked, went home and yup... 2 more large clots. I take iron supplements do you?

@Sally you poor thing so the tablets haven’t helped I am going 7 am in the morning I was praying it would slow down by now 😢

@Hilary that's really interesting. Yes triple jabbed. I'm a Midwife and can't really get out of the jab culture within a trust setting.... But i must say I'll put my foot down about a 4th.

@hayley A&E did blood tests, hormone levels to make sure it wasn't a pregnancy and a speculum examination which they said looked normal.... And sent me away with Transamanic acid. I'm flooded today, more clots so I'll call the GP first thing.

Did you have the vaccine? Not starting anything vax or anti vax. Just i haven't had my jabs and no issues. A few friends who have had it having same problem ,clotting excessive bleeding etc

I'm on HRT patches now but have mood swings and fatigue

I've had Covid but my periods have been unmanageable for years so I've not noticed a difference

Feel free to add me

Interesting I’ve had covid twice and currently on a period 5 weeks very heavy not been to a&e but have gynaecologists nurse Thursday morning did a&e do anything for you?

@Jo thank you, I will. I kept saying I was covid positive last week, and i know there's a possible link, but they were more concerned that I might be miscarring, which I wasn't. But thank you.

Yes I did too ask them for pelvic scan too see if there is anything else
