Hospital Choice?!

Leeds mums, LGI or St James’? Heard good/bad about both - any advice/stories would be appreciated!

@Hannah glad you find the blog useful 🙂 Yes, it’s always good to have a plan B, if plan A doesn’t work. Being informed of all of your options is key too and then if plan A doesn’t work, you are prepared for the pros and cons of other alternatives. Doing what’s right for you and your baby. You will then approach birth much more confidently and feeling in control. ❤️ x

Thanks @Julia | Birth Doula ! I really like the idea of the Lotus Suite at the LGI, whilst obviously trying to keep an open mind that birth may not be what we hope for - this article is helpful :)

I’d say go where you will feel the safest and happiest. Feeling safe during labour is really important. Think about how long it will take you to get there when in labour, where to park, any regular traffic jams at certain times of the day etc. Visit both hospitals during pregnancy and have a walk around them both, if you’re not familiar with them and get a feel. Often you’ll feel drawn to one when you visit. Think about the facilities each have too. LGI has the Lotus suite, if you want a less clinical experience. I’ve written a blog about Leeds hospital births, which you can have a read of and it tells you the different facilities at each. X https://www.babadoulaservices.co.uk/leeds-hospital-birth

I've had 3 babies at LGI in a 3 year period, they've been amazing on all 3 occasions. I did have to go to MAC at St James with my last pregnancy and the midwives were all lovely.

Parking is a nightmare at LGI though so I’d bear that in mind xx
