Did they tell you why they want that ?
So is the dr ordering it one that’s from the hospital ? I might sound like an idiot right now, but I thought an on call dr from your practice would show if your obgyn from said practice was not available? That’s what happened to me at Riverside w my first and second ; w my second the on call from the practice I was going to was an absolute dick and he was trying to force me into an unecessary c section , but a nurse advocated for me and got me to dilate fast and we avoided it . But yea if they have on site drs that oversee it , I’m curious why their drs are recommending a c section for you. I liked that at Ann’s offers a doula program, did you use that ? I’m looking into it bc I suck at advocating for myself - great doing it for others but not for me - and I want a trusted opinion. Idk if it helps, I know it’s a bummer when birth goes the absolute opposite direction, but no matter what happens you are a badass and you end with your bb ! That one dude dr tried to claim I was prog
Progressing too slowly and I was stuck at 4, so he was pushing it. My ex husband was pushing me to sign papers but my nurse told him to fuck off and give her an hour . My nurse flipped me every which way and it took me from a 4-10 and baby was out fast. She wasn’t in distress though , so if baby and you are holding steady and it’s that kind of worry, maybe suggest having the nurses reposition you for faster dilation ?
Hoping everything goes smoothly for you no matter what ! Congrats 🎉
I had a wonderful time delivering at Mount Carmel St Ann’s in 2018. I had a history of pre-term labor, my water broke, I stopped by McDonald’s to eat before going in (because I knew from my first they wouldn’t let me eat) they triaged and waited for a test to confirm my water had broke. Took me into a room, I told them I would really like to have a water birth, they said no problem and moved me to another room with a birthing tub. The rooms are private and very spacious. I ended up going into labor very quickly after, they let me walk around and do as I wanted while laboring, and then had her before they had time to get water in the tub and before my doctor arrived. We actually didn’t see him at all (my water broke at home at 2:30AM I lived 30mins from the hospital and I delivered her at 5AM) I believe the nurses delivered the baby. They were amazing and helpful after, I went home the day after at noon.
I had my baby there in November of last year and it was good. The anesthesiologist I had was really good.
This is my second and I’m thinking of changing to St Ann’s too purely because I hear they are patient and great with vagina birth. My first was at riverside, I had dilated to about 7cm but still ended up going the cs route, I felt that could have been avoided with patience and expertise otherwise, riverside is great, the nurses were amazing and I felt really supported.
I had a great experience delivering at MCSA December of 2021. The anesthesiologist, nurses, and OB (not mine) were all great and listened to what I wanted to do. They gave me my options for every decision and I never felt pushed one way or the other
I delivered at st Ann’s in 2011 w/ Dr Murnane and again 2022 with his nurse midwife from a homebirth transfer (2nd was born at home). My nurses honored my birth plan and I loved my experience from the time I got there to the time I left.
I delivered here a month ago and I loved the LD and maternity nursing staff. Everyone was very nice! I didn’t like the pediatrician there bc she talked me into supplementing with formula and made it seem like breastfeeding wasn’t enough. Basically I thought I wasn’t going to be able to breastfeed at all after leaving the hospital bc of her and now, a month later, I have an oversupply!
@Ally love this ! And thanks for the heads up on the pushing formula. So I am all about fed is best bc I struggled with supply with my last baby and it sent me into a ppd /ppa hell , so then I started formula. Did you do much to help boost your supply and if so what did you do? I feel like I need a good lactation consultant or some such because I would like to try it again this time around ( while fully accepting I might not be able to)
@Jessica I just latched baby as much as possible in the first couple of days, and now I offer her food every time she wakes up. I also pumped in the first week like 1-2 times a day just bc I was nervous. I drank as much water as I could like I tried to drink 1/2-1 bottle of water every time she ate and then I made sure I kept my calories up and had snacks by me the whole time! I’m not sure when you’re due but if you end up needing breastmilk I have plenty of frozen breastmilk if you need to help supplement in the first week or so!
@Ally I’m due September 25th ! So if you still have it / if it’s still good ( I need to educate myself, idk how long frozen milk is good for) I would appreciate it ! That’s so awesome of you
@Jessica im sure I’ll have some by then! I plan on breastfeeding until Jan of next year! It freezes for about 6 months so feel free to message me and then lmk whenever you may need some!
I’m here now trying to deliver VBAC and the doctor that’s here today is telling me he wants to schedule c section and that’s not what I want . I’m upset and feel like I have nobody on my side . I heard st Ann’s we’re great for VBAC but now I’m here and they giving me the run around . Upset
