I had an ECV Monday just gone, I was so nervous because everyone said how painful it is…. It didn’t hurt in the slightest the only bit that was a bit uncomfortable was my doctors nails… they wasn’t long but she scratched a TINY bit Unfortunately it didn’t work for me baby turned back to breech half hour later I’m booked in for a c section tomorrow good luck xx
Hi all, just an update I was scheduled for ECV today but have cancelled and opted for selective c section! X
My advise would be to think about the outcome you could mentally handle. It’s a 50/50 chance of working or not, mine didn’t but I’d pinned all my hopes on it and it devastated me. I was so upset, and I think contributes to several issues I had post birth like PND. If you can handle either result, I’d say try it because you never know! My planned c section was incredible though, such a fabulous birth now I look back on it x
I’m in the exact same situation, currently at 36+3 and baby is still breech and has been for a couple of months. I don’t like the idea of ECV but it’s a personal choice…. I just think if he wanted to turn he would! Don’t like the idea of him being forced and quite often doesn’t work anyway. There’s also risk of the cord getting tangled 😕 not trying to scare you but you’ve probably read these things yourself whilst researching!! I’m booking in for a C section but if he miraculously turns before it can be cancelled, so I think it just makes sense to get it booked as a safe back up x
Thanks everyone 💗
You can ask about vaginal breech birth if that’s something you might be interested in :) some babies are breech for a reason (short cords, lack of space to turn etc) so it’s possible that whatever you do won’t work! Equally sometimes an ECV is successful. I’d suggest gathering all the info you can to be able to make an informed choice x
I know it's rare but my breech baby has turned on week 38.
I was in the same situation as you when I had my little girl. I tried the ECV, (which is really uncomfortable, can’t describe how it feels), but it didn’t work for us. I’d say give it a go, and if it doesn’t work, then prepare yourself for a c-section x
@Deniz what movements were you doing when they turned?
