Tdap Vaccine

Hi Mamas😌 I am at the stage in my pregnancy where my midwife is introducing the Tdap vaccine. I don’t have much knowledge on it as yet and am curious what some of your opinions are.

It's a standard series vaccine given to all children (required for school) and all pregnant mom in the 3rd trimester in order to provide immunity against Pertussis (whooping cough) a very dangerous infection in babies.

It’s a routine vaccine against pertussis given to mothers so they could pass on immunity to the baby. Pertussis is incredibly dangerous for babies esp at the newborn stage. I got it when I was pregnant too

I didn’t get it. Do your research pls and there is a group vaccinations you can make a post there and ask as well

I never took it .. and I’m pregnant again and I still won’t take it. Personal Reasons! Please tell me how often you hear of people having “whooping cough” ??

@Shaylynn there’s a reason for that…🤦🏻‍♀️

I was never even offered Tdap vaccine

@Runnu lol yeah the reason being it’s been obsolete for a long time and it’s very rare. People who aren’t pregnant don’t get that vaccine so explain why it’s not found anywhere??

Check out @justtheinserts on Instagram.... They copy and paste information directly from the manufacturer inserts. There is a Dtap vaccine and a Tdap vaccine. On their website they have info about both. On their instagram page they only have info about Dtap. It's a neutral community that simply provides info for people. No judgement. It is just informed consent. People don't know the risks of drugs, vaccines etc., so her posts basically tell you all of that so you can decide what you want to do.

@Shaylynn people who aren’t pregnant don’t get it because they have been vaccinated as babies (Dtap). Mothers get it so they can rebuild immunity to pass to baby. Regardless - this is the worst platform to ask for advice as most in here are not medically trained (including myself). Best for the author of this post would be to talk to her doctor.

I got the tdap vaccine and flu shot as recommended by my doctor and OB. Doctors wouldn't encourage the vaccine if it was harmful. 🤷‍♀️

@Runnu doctors have to tell you to get it so they aren't the best person to ask. Did you know naturopath doctors in Ontario are not allowed to talk about vaccines at all ? That should be a red flag to you. ⛳⛳⛳⛳ There are a lot of ways to learn. A lot of information available online. Ask different people. Get different perspectives. I asked my doctor about a vaccine and they didn't even know the ingredients in it. They've been a doctor for 35+ years. 😂 I don't outsource my health to others. Doctors love to prescribe pills for everything. That is why we currently have antibiotic resistant bacteria, antibiotics have been overprescribed. I look for the root cause so that the problem goes away. Pills etc. all have side effects. Sometimes the side effects are even worse than the initial issue. Natural is usually better (but not always!). It's complicated. ; ) What I'm saying is that people can't just believe everything their doctor says and does blindly. We all need to think for ourselves. Too many sheeps.

@Raquel I am sorry but I will respectfully disagree. I have seen people dying from diseases that people in North America think don’t exist.

@Runnu I posted in here to hear different perspectives. Clearly you and @Raquel are on opposite ends which is absolutely fine. Of course I will be doing my own research still. It’s nice to hear the experience or thought process of other local moms. I never put all my trust into the medical system.

@Runnu of course diseases exist, that isn't the question. There is a lot more to it than that :) It is always good to look at both sides and make your own choices. That's all I'm saying

@Raquel thank you for this! I couldn’t agree more.

I am 38 weeks, was offered it but did not take it. I do not know what is in it and didn't feel comfortable taking it. Doctors jobs are to handout these things, they are quick to cover up and not deal with the actual issue. That's my personal opinion. But do your research and do what you feel best😊

@Kate I have had neither but thank you lol
