Water cup/ beaker

Does anyone else’s little ones just not know how to suck on a beaker to get water?? My little girl is 11 months! She doesn’t suck but will bite on it, so I’ve got her the beakers with the rubber spouts so she can bite and the water will be released a little bit. Because of this she also wouldn’t know how to drink from a straw. I feel like she should know how to use a normal beaker since I see lots of people talking about moving onto open cups! I won’t even attempt that as her current beaker gets launched across the room as it is! Any suggestions?😅 Picture of the beaker we use

We have the same but without the handles. My daughter can get the water out, but there's always some left in the spout. She doesn't get on well with open cups, water or milk ends up all over her haha. I'm going to try the straw cup when it arrives next week x

Same!! I have about six different cups in the cupboard and he just turns them all over and chews the bottom. It’s supposed to click for them I was told but he just doesn’t get it 🙉the best luck I’ve had is with a trainer straw cup. You squeeze it when they put the straw in their mouth and they learn how to use the straw that way. He seems to be getting the hang of it. 😆it doesn’t help that he doesn’t seem a fan of water!

Im Here for comments same problem Here x

@Lucy yeah me too, I’ve bought so many different types hoping one will suit her but so far nope 😂 part of me is tempted to just give her a normal one and persist and hopefully she will just figure it out eventually but I also don’t want her to be dehydrated 😅 a straw one is the only one I haven’t tried! Perhaps I’ll give one a go x

@Maria I’m surprised so many others are in the same boat!x

My baby is breast feed just wondering maybe Thats why

My little one can use both a beaker a straw cup. Try putting something on the straw for her to suck on

So she gets the hang of it and realises that what she should be doing!

@Maria oh this is a great idea! Thank you, I’ll try this!

@Crissy yeah I’m Building such a collection! I sometimes just lift an open cup up to him to drink but the HV was like no no no absolutely not he has to do it himself so that’s when I ordered the training straw one 😆hopefully we will get there in the end!

I bought a few cups for my son and he decided he didn’t want a lid. So I bought a soft cup he can drink from. He kept biting and chewing the others, but drinks this way. He kept throwing the others so that’s when I decided to take the lid off

I got my son to take a straw by basically Putting a bit of water in the straw (just putting it in water and putting my thumb over the top to hold the water in) then I put it in his mouth and let the water go. He Kinda got the hang of it after that but he was about 6 months so not sure if different now they are older.

Our little girl really struggled we use the cove cups xx

@joanne we have the same cup, it took a while for him to get it but then all of a sudden he just did it and can drink from it now 🎉

@Charlotte ooo I hadn’t heard of those ones before, they are really nice looking!😂 I might have to give them a go as well. Getting a bit ridiculous how much I’ve spent on cups though 😂x

@joanne I’ve got one like this that is free flow, and my little girl won’t drink from it but will shake the life out of it until there’s no water left and we’re all drenched head to foot 😂 I haven’t even heard from the HV’s yet! I didn’t even think about asking them x

I saw a tik tok of where a women put yoghurt on the tip and it helped them suck rather than bite. I did it and it worked! Give it a go and see if they do the same. I've got a nuby bottle as well that's quite good. I'll try and find it X
