HELP! Pregnancy Rhinitis

I am suffering probably the worst case of pregnancy rhinitis. I mean I NEVER have congestion when I’m not pregnant and suddenly it feels like I’m allergic to everything. Today it has arrived at peak-shittyness and I’m so stuffed up- no amount of allergy medicine, saline nasal spray, or otherwise has helped. my doctor even gave me permission to use nasal spray with medicine. I am so congested I can’t even hear and the pressure in my head is excruciating. (yes, blood pressure and all other tests are normal and no I do not have preeclampsia or even seasonal allergies usually. Please help me!! what else can I do? I’m currently trying to let steam into my face/ nose but it’s not helping. I’m miserable. I can’t even sleep like this. I can’t breathe through my mouth when I sleep.

I had the worst bronchitis of my life earlier during my pregnancy. I recommend steaming old fashioned way with hot pot of water and blanket on top. You could also use a face steamer that has helped me with the congestion. Hot water showers are good but make sure your partner is around incase you feel dizzy. Vicks vapor rub on your chest and you can also get one for the nose it comes as a stick.

Blow your nose and get that congestion out as much as you can. Also make sure to gargle so it doesn’t go down your throat and cause Bronchitis

You have to sleep elevated. It’s uncomfortable but that helps you breath.

Hot lemon water or hot tea. It will open you up. That my go to everytime. Especially when my husband and I had Covid

Try a neti pot and/or humidifier. I was super congested last night and the humidifier helped

I couldn't take it... I need to breathe and the only thing that worked for me is Mucinex nasal spray and it cause no known harm to baby... my baby was born in January and completely healthy

Mucinex this late into pregnancy maybe a good option. It causes miscarriage during early pregnancy (first trimester) but not as bad during second trimester. It is a category C drug so I still wouldn’t recommend but if your situation isn’t helping good oxygen flow for you and the baby then this option may make sense.

@Candice it is a hit or miss for me with the humidifier. Glad it worked for you. Hope you feel better.

@Jessica Harvey - hope and pray you feel better soon!

@Justina mucinex nasal spray is know to cause miscarriages or regular mucinex liquid or pills? I haven't heard or read anything about the nasal spray

@Ki'Andra any mucinex formula is considered category C. I would recommend reaching out to a pharmacist to learn more. Generally, best to consult medications with an experienced pharmacist over a doctor. https://www.drugs.com/pregnancy/guaifenesin.html

@Ki'Andra - Unfortunately there isn’t much research out there for individual drugs and their subsidiary on pregnant woman. So best to be cautious atleast that’s my personal recommendation.

I wish I had advice but I just suffered horribly through my pregnancy. Nothing I tried help and I woke up choking almost every night. Elevation helped a little. If it makes you feel any better it went away pretty quickly after I gave birth. Hang in there mama. I know it's absolutely miserable.
