Has anyone had a healthy baby after termination for medical reasons?

Last year I terminated my pregnancy due to the diagnosis of down syndrome and the baby's heart malfunction, this was the hardest decision I had to make. Today I'm 7 weeks pregnant and I can't stop thinking about everything I've been through. The pain of that decision, the guilt. I just pray to God that this baby is healthy.

I had to make the same choice last summer. Now I am almost 20 weeks and so far everything looks great. DS is not genetic in most cases, just a random mutation. Therapy helps, but to be honest I still constantly worry. I think all mamas in our situation would. Message me if you want to chat 🙂

I had a TMFR due to my baby having anencephaly (condition that is incompatible with life) around 7 years ago. Even though I knew there was no way of continuing the pregnancy (if we hadn’t terminated, the pregnancy would have ended in a miscarriage or stillbirth at some point) I still felt huge amounts of conflict and grief, so I do understand what you’re going through. We now have a gorgeous, healthy 3 week old baby boy. There were a couple of scares earlier in the pregnancy which were made all the more horrible by my past experiences (I’d also had a missed miscarriage) but we got through them all and everything was fine. I know it’s ridiculous to say, but try not to stress & worry too much. There’s every chance that just like with us, this time your little one is healthy, safe & sound. It won’t be long before your 12 week scan now (must feel ages away though!) and hopefully that’ll set your mind at rest. I’m wishing you all the luck in the world ❤️
