Positive, Quick(ish) Induction Stories?

So my first baby came on his own at 39+5. As of today I’m 41 weeks with my second and I’m just shocked. They’re pushing for an induction on Tuesday and I’m just upset that it’s come to this. I wouldn’t call my first experience a fairy tale by any means…but I labored at home until 8cm and felt pretty good. I’m really bummed out about doing that in the hospital AND that they’ve said I can’t eat during. Last time I labored for 20 hours - how will I do that on no food?? I need positive stories!

I had a induction at 41 weeks +3 days. It was roughly a 22 hour in total from water breaking to him arriving and it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it was going to be. Infact with my second child I would be likely to get a induction booked again if I get to 40 weeks. My reason being is that if truth be said if I had left it any longer I don't think I would have had a great outcome as I did. My son was big enough at 8 pounds 5oz and was more than ready to be here. He also 💩 inside me and he swallowed such an amount we had to stay in hospital for 4 days until he was all in the clear. I believe if I had gone in earlier maybe that bit could of been avoided. Also I had tried everything to induce labour myself which was making me stress more than I needed. Not to mention it was last year in UK July's biggest heatwave! So if you are fed up of the waiting game I would get a induction booked. You will be monitored all the way through to make sure you and baby are safe. Good luck! ❤

Thank you all for the positive stories! I’m still holding out for maybe labor on my own tonight or tomorrow. There’s some other reasons they don’t want me to go much further but if I have to be induced, fingers crossed for a quick one!

@Emily I was the same way! They did tell me that it’s not as common to need an induction if your first one didn’t require one because it arrived on time. I think that’s part of my challenge…I never expected to need to be induced since my first one came on his own at 39+5. Hard to wrap my head around.

I’d seen stories of it taking days but I’d say mine was really quick, 3pm arrived - Baby heart beat good, Scanned and head down, 4pm dr okayed to start the induction, 4.25 prosterin gel by 11pm I was 3cm and then at 11.45 I was at 7 cm. Taken to delivery suite & 12.38 baby born. I was told to try and sleep & eat as much as possible while I was comfortable as would need it for later. Best of luck x
