Weaning - super constipated

LO has been on solids since 6 months old. He’s now 7.5 months. We do 2-3 meals a day and a mix of traditional weaning and BLW so sometimes he eats a bit more and sometimes a bit less. He has a variety of different veggies, fruits, proteins and grains and still takes his milk well - he has a combination of formula and breast milk. He also has a bit of water after every meal so has about 2-3oz a day. In the last week he has become super constipated. He strains so so hard and goes bright red and sometimes even cries in pain, only to poop out a tiny solid pebble each time. We’ve tried prune puree, oranges, more water etc. but nothing seems to be helping. What can I do to help him??

I had this few times, what Is I left only broccoli, cauliflower for one meal and prunes for other. And milk. That’s it. It’s helped to make his stool more softer.

Have you tried more fibre? My LG loves weetabix

We’ve been using probiotic drops which help with digestion and gut health. I put them in his first bottle. Has definitely helped keep him regular. He also has 5 bottles 6 ounce bottles of milk across the day x

My health advisor said with milk(formula ) do an extra 1 ounce of water. Helped my little one a lot! Speak to your health advisor about doing that! 💪

Thank you everyone!

My 7 month old had the exact same problem from when I starting weaning. I finally rang GP after trying everything else prunes pears etc and they have prescribed a laxative and he hasn’t looked back since! Wish I had of phoned sooner
