Breastfeeding and sleep

Do breastfed babies not sleep as long? I use to feed my first with expresses breast milk bottles only and she was doing long stretches at this point, with my newborn now I breastfeed by latching and he still does 1-2 hour stretches. Will he sleep longer if I bottle feed?

@Rassile I mostly pump? Latch maybe once or twice a day, for every pump 2/3 hours. And that’s about how much he’s eating hourly. So when he gets a bottle in pumping either way. Or when I latch him I won’t pump for that meal. I’m making about 54 oz a day and he’s eating only 2.5 to 3oz right now at a month

@Rassile oh I pump when he gives her the bottle so it doesn’t affect my supply 😊

It's probably because babies tucker out at the breast more quickly and get less milk. If your baby eats less they will sleep less. When they drink from the bottle it takes much less effort so they can feed for longer and pull larger volumes. And as a consequence they sleep longer after feeding. I ALWAYS bottle feed at night, never latch at night. Because I am trying to get my baby to sleep for as long as I possibly can

@Rassile yes he does we typically give him a bottle before bedtime to make sure he eats atleast 4 Oz and sometimes he will still be hungry and want boob after
