Baby still wants more milk after food but won’t eat any more

My baby boy is 7.5 months and we have had some difficulties with weaning so he didn’t eat solids for some weeks. Tonight he had a whole pouch of aldi fruit baby rice, some bites of a sweetcorn fritter, a melt puff and some of a Heinz biscotti biscuit. He still wanted some of his bottle after food! We are trying to increase the amount he eats but he clamps his mouth shut and throws the food when he is saying he doesn’t want more. But then he wanted some milk around 20 minutes after finishing his food. He is so thrashing and hitting his food and the tray and things, and throwing his food, that he doesn’t want to stay in his high chair, so getting him to eat more food seems impossible! He’s still not dropped any milk feeds… How can I get him to sit and eat more?

He won't and that sounds like a lot of food. My babies are only a few weeks into weaning but I've read that it's normal for them to want milk after eating solids so I'm not expecting that to change any time soon

Sounds like he ate quite a lot! @Nat said it all pretty much. Make sure you offer water with meals too, he might be thirsty as well if he wants milk after every meal.

Milk is their main source of nutrition till 1 so if he's had enough food I'd let him have his milk 🙂 he sounds like a good eater for his age, he'll up his food intake as he gets older. Sounds like you're doing a fab job though and I wouldn't worry too much about him eating more solids
