Headaches

Has anyone else had a persistent headache after having their baby? Mine has been going on for a week straight now and over the counter meds haven’t worked at all. My blood pressure is fine and no vision changes or anything 🤦🏽‍♀️ my doctor seemed unsure of what it was.

I was and my doctor told me it was just from lack of sleep 😭

@Cara did it go away now? I feel like I’ve been getting a pretty good amount of sleep for having a newborn 😭

@Savannah I got over it a few days ago, I had them for like a week and a half. I thought I was getting good sleep too but I guess not. I even had an optic migraine during that week in the mix of all the headaches. It was not fun. I’m finally not having them as frequently anymore,

@Cara I’m glad they’re not happening for you as much anymore! Thanks for your input. I’m going on 9 days now so hopefully mine stop around a week and half too!

Are you breastfeeding? I swear I was having headaches because of dehydration from breastfeeding

@Evelyn yes, but I thought I was drinking enough water 😩 how much are you drinking?

I feel like I need an extra 4-6 glasses per day than normal. Especially right after birth but it eventually evened out closer to normal

Also make sure you are eating enough! You burn around 500 extra calories per day just from breastfeeding.

I read online headaches are most likely from hormone levels filling and/or evening out. Since our hormones are all out of whack, it's often from that. However, pregnancy can also change our eyesight, and that can cause headaches too. You may want to get your eyes checked. I always know when my eyes have changed and I need a new script by how many headaches I have.
