Jimmy John’s has been one of my biggest cravings 😩 I’ve ate it throughout my whole pregnancy so far so good 🤷🏼‍♀️ you just want to be careful w deli meat bc it can carry bacteria but if the meat doesn’t seem spoiled you’re most likely good!

@Allisen yessss!! thank you 👏🏼

I had subway a lot during pregnancy. I’ve read as long as it’s thoroughly heated it’s fine

I’ve had deli meats when I know the store/ restaurant and haven’t had any issues with them pre-pregnancy, especially if it’s not raw but eg smoked, definitely a decision you have to weigh up yourself 🫣

It’s listeria that raise the concern on deli meats. I mean do what you do, but the chances of getting listeria is I believe very low, but it must still be put out there as a precaution (just like hotdogs, salads, etc.) See if they can warm the meat up for you if you want to be extra careful.

btw y’all i’m not getting my sandwich heated up it’s gonna be cold!!

@Lara what’s smoked mean?

Eat it!! I’ve been eating cold deli meat my whole pregnancy and all is well.

@Kadie you’re so sweet you got this momma😭❤️

I’ve eaten both deli meats and sushi since being pregnant, the only one I haven’t had are coffee and energy drinks. I say eat what you want in moderation and baby will grow perfectly fine.

I only ate ham sandwiches the entire first trimester it’s all I could keep down. The chances of listeria from lunch meat is incredibly slim

I ate ham every day at work during the first 22 weeks and baby was perfect. Also unpasteurised cheeses. It's up to you to assess the risks and make an informed choice! X

So the chance of getting listeria is super small, the problem is if you catch listeria, the chance of a miscarriage or stillbirth from it is super high. So you're just gambling on chances at this point. And all lunch meat is previously cooked, it's just a matter of how it's stored whether listeria can grow and you can catch it or not.

@megan liked smoked salmon or salami, it’s not 100% raw, it has been prepared by using smoke (but it’s not completely cooked through so needs to be stored and transported correctly ☺️)

I ate sandwich meat my entire pregnancy. My baby was fine I was fine. I even had sushi ,Well it was cooked but I still had it Lol.

@Alissa thank you!

Man I’ve eaten samiches the whole 9 months. I never heard about negative issues until I got on this app.

My bf works at jimmy johns and I ate/eat it like 4x a week. I asked my ob and she said it was fine

Girl eat the sandwich! Your chances of getting listeria are supper low. You have a high chance of getting it from lettuce or the pre cut fruit and veggie trays at the grocery store. I have never once stopped myself from having cold deli meat during my pregnancies

I’m gonna be honest. I couldn’t stay away from Jersey Mike’s, I tried, I really tried 🥺 I’m sure my sandwich had some cold cuts but so far at 19 weeks my baby’s check ups and my own bloodwork came back normal.

I saw today that your risk of getting listeria from deli meat in pregnancy is something like 1 in 80,000. It can still be high in nitrates and salt so maybe don’t eat it everyday but I wouldn’t consider it super risky

I eat subs all the time but I get mine toasted my midwife told me I can have lunch meat just not cold
