‘Well in my day we did it, and it was fine’ 🥴
I’ve had similar. My 85 year old grandad gave me “advice” on reusable nappies. Told me to scrap the poo off with a knife and microwave them (in the same microwave you’d do your food in!). Also said I should work from home instead of going to work which isn’t an option. He also said well now your off work once the baby comes. You can look after me and be up here everyday. Forgetting I’ll have a newborn and might need looking after myself! Like you said you love them but jeezzzz
@Charlotte you know what he hasn’t mentioned that yet but with my son now, he’s 12 and when he was little i had to fight to get a car seat for him in their car when they had him for me to work. I ended up going out, buying one and making them use it. Luckily my Nan had sense haha!! However I’m due to go Cornwall when baby is 3 weeks old for my nieces 18th birthday. Told my mam we’d do regular stops etc and she was like why? Explained rules have changed in the last 12 years and they can’t stay in the car seats for as long now. And her attitude was to take him out for half hour rather than stop. 🤦🏻♀️ she’s in her 40’s!!
@Aimee omg 😳! Luckily I’m not doing reusable nappies, for my situation just isn’t practical but I’m glad he hasn’t suggested stuff like that.. it baffles me cause when it snowed with us 2 weeks ago, he rang my mam asking why she’s working (she also works from home) and he couldn’t understand why she was working when it was snowing 🤦🏻♀️ But he’s been losing it since we lost my Nan back in 2020. He just doesn’t think before he speaks either. Like my Nan would have called him everything and told him to shut up 😂 honestly can see her doing it now. But he’s difficult atm
@Krystina I honestly hate that phrase! It’s like yeah but you also haven’t got to deal with XYZ back then 🙄 it’s like this whole argument of having child bays in car parks. Winds me up haha! But I think I’m so fed up now, my hormones are ready to explode 🙈🙈
My grandad is exactly like this🤣 I lost my job in November and was forced to take mat leave early, he wouldn’t stop banging on about money🤣 I love him dearly but it’s annoying xx
It’s hard and they are annoying at times but they are from a generation that worked till the minute they gave birth and carried on regardless, my grandad has passed now but he was kind of the same as they also weren’t allowed at the birth etc the wives done it all alone with a midwife or a family member they just went to work or about their business as usual because having babies wasn’t any of a man’s business my Nan had different feelings about it but that was the done thing it’s hard for them to adjust they are just set in their ways I would just ignore it let him say what he wants have a little rant and brush it off and you do you xx
@Nichola For an 82 year old he is fairly switched on with modern life. He just doesn’t think before he speaks 😂 he couldn’t understand why I had one Tuesday off work before and not the next😂😂 If my nan was still around, she’d call him a dickhead and tell him to shut up haha! Me and my fiancé just looked at each other and we’re like 🙈 I did question if he wanted my newborn to look after while I worked 😂😂😂
Honestly the car seat thing really gets on my nerves I am sick to the back teeth of telling people the rules have changed and this year are changing again I point blank refused to go to visit my husbands dad after baby is born because it’s a 5hr drive without stops and at 3 weeks old I would have to stop every 30mins so nope not doing it at all my mum got it tho and she is 66 xx
Sounds like we have the same grandad!😂😂 I wouldn’t mind but I’m not doing reuseable nappies either he just thought he’s tell me what they do back in the day!😅😅 he’s actually the same last my Nan back in 2021 and she used to boot him under the table if he was being out of line. Always thought she was mean but now I get it!
I was trying to explain the rules of the car seat to my grandad, he said it sounds too complicated and why can’t I just ‘hold baby on my knee’ 🙈😩
