B12 Deficiency

Hi! I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask this type of question but here it goes:) I just received my first blood results and am 7+3 weeks pregnant. My doctor has requested that I get bloods taken again and if my B12 is still super low (172) that I might need to have a B12 injection. Just wondering if anyone here experienced this and had the injection? I am vegetarian and mostly plant based but have recently started eating eggs and yoghurt again… so I’m aware that my diet has maybe been lacking in B12 for years which might explain my energy levels for the past 8 years! Any tips or advice greatly appreciates from this overthinking worrier of a soon to be mum! 🌷🙏🏻✨

I take a B12 spray x

can you look into vitamin supplements?

I have a happy and healthy 3 month old baby boy and I had B12 injections every 12 weeks all throughout my pregnancy my first of which was given at about 5 weeks pregnant. It will massively help with your energy levels, too! 😊

My B12 levels were not picked up as low until my late 40’s, very low energy and, in my opinion, told I was depressed. Now have B12 injections every 12 weeks to the day. They have helped enormously.

@Lara 🙏🏻 thank you, I’ve just got my hands on a supplement this eve so will start asap

@Bryclyn yes, doing this as we speak:) and have already got some supplements 🙌🏻

@Amy-Rose this is so great to hear, thanks so much for the reassurance ☺️

@Joanna great to hear that the injections really help you.. I’ve my fingers crossed I can help the numbers raise over the next few weeks through food bit it sounds like it can take months to bring them back up so it’s great to know an injection will help if not 🙏🏻

I add nutritional yeast flakes to errything

I’m vegan and pre pregnancy my B12 was fine, but suddenly in pregnancy it dropped extremely low so I took the B12 “Better You” Oral spray it says 4 sprays daily but I take 6 daily that’s the only way I get normal range B12 in pregnancy blood test results each trimester. Hope this helps!

The spray is the best supplement because it bypasses a tired / difficult digestive system that may not quite absorb / digest pills or tablets well

@Fleur thank you 🙏🏻 I got a liquid drops which is supposed to be absorbed more quickly too… Today Im so weak it’s hard to walk so I feel like I might possibly have to have an injection. Hopefully then I can just work with food and supplements and not have to keep getting them for the rest of my pregnancy☺️

@Hannah fantastic for the liquid drops! Good luck 🙏 Hope you can have more energy very soon, the first trimester is the most tiring, sending you strength!

I take a multivitamin, which includes B12, every day. Everyone should take a B12 supplement really, but especially vegans💚💊
