Colostrum collection

I’m currently 32 weeks pregnant but I’ve been leaking milk or colostrum since I was 20 ish weeks, now I’m leaking a lot and I want to start collecting it. Should I collect it, freeze it and take to the hospital for when my baby is born? For how long is it good to freeze? FTM here, I would appreciate help and orientation 🥺❤️

Hi I’m a lactation counselor! We don’t recommend active harvesting using hand expression until after 37 weeks with a doctors green light. If you are leaking a lot and wearing breast pads, I would recommend a non suction milk collector that you can stick in your bra and it lets the drips fall in. You can store in little sterile syringes or they have special colostrum vials that baby can feed from directly. If stored in the freezer they should be fine to use when baby gets here.

@Angel thank you so much!! I just found the catcher and the syringes on Amazon and I’ll be using them❤️ I appreciate it 🫶🏼
