I’m in a temporary accommodation with my family. Lewisham council too. We have been in temporary accommodations since December 2021. Since then the council has moved us 3 times already, All far from where we used to live. We have been bidding for over a year, but now we are getting close to the top of the queue so hopefully we are going to get a permanent accommodation soon. At some point my husband and I where considering moving outside London, but he works here and I’m going to uni here, so it’s not an option really. I understand how you are feeling, it’s so frustrating sometimes, and some home officers have no compassion when talking to people on the phone.
Same with me. I’m with lewisham council and I’m temporary accommodation since 2022 June. Placed in Orpington area😩
@Irina have you been given long term temporary or is it emergency accommodation x
It’s emergency accommodation. And my housing agent useless , can’t get in touch with her for more then 6 months x
@Irina lewisham are awful 😫 and same mine is constantly on annual leave. They have put me so far that I might be be able to return to work because my child care is back in the borough and I’m so far away
I’ve told them this and they don’t care
I know hun , same here. I was even thinking to get in touch with lewisham mp, maybe it will make council move they asses
That’s a good idea
I know there is a huge back log and wait times can be crazy 20+ years ago I was in temporary and was there for 9months but things are more complicated now. Are you bidding on properties? In which case you can bid closer to where you want, however you might be better off taking anything long term then doing a mutual exchange to swap with someone as most temporary accommodation isn’t suitable for longer term stays anyway. Good luck. I know when you have a little one having a support network is so important. Speak to the housing to see if they can talk you through process more and give rough times. X
