RVI birthing centre

Does anyone have any good experiences from RVI Birthing Centre? I’m really hoping to have my baby in the BC but I’ve heard they use any excuse to get you upstairs and I’m really hoping to avoid that!!

I was just in normal maternity ward due to gestational diabetes, but I had an amazing birthing experience, midwives were fantastic ❤️

@kat do you mind me asking if it was a fairly smooth process (well as smooth as it could be) when you needed to be transferred or were you worried? I only ask as I’m also hoping to choose the birthing centre but I just worry about there not being doctors there if something was to go wrong/needing to be transferred xx

I had an amazing experience at the RVI birthing centre in November 2021. I could not fault any part of my care x

I started in the Birthing Crntre but had to be moved upstairs & then ended up with a c section. Each section that I stayed in was fantastic! The care we received was just great. Obviously a c section is far removed from my planned Birthing Centre birth but it was very calm & relaxed, I have no regrets! I can somewhat agree that you are moved out quickly if need be but it is done with your care (& baby’s) at the centre of the decision. You only have to look at the birth stats to see very few are born there. Best of luck.xxx

I had an amazing experience, I’ve birthed in both the maternity ward and the birthing centre and had 2 positive experiences. My birthing centre experience was when I was induced with my 2nd child, at 4cm I was moved downstairs as requested and started my water birth. The midwives were amazing and listened to everything I wanted from the moment I got there as I was desperate to get in the water, I wouldn’t say they do anything to move you away as mine did the complete opposite x

I had my baby in the birth centre in December (Boxing Day 🎄) Honestly, my experience was amazing. Way better than I expected. We both said it was like being in a private hospital or something. I didn’t need to be transferred upstairs but we did require emergency assistance once baby was born. A team arrived in what seemed like seconds. I’m not saying this to scare you, thankfully baby was absolutely fine, but more to reassure you that even if you do require emergency help in the birth centre, it’s there 😁

@Alice I delivered in November 2021 as well. I remember it as a very good experience 😊 Nice place, very good midwifes. Good care. I am planning to deliver sec baby i'm RVI too

Sorry I’m a bit confused , what’s a birthing centre?

@romasa birthing Centre is a unit run only by a midwifes. this is nice place. This is place where you can't get epidural, only gas, waterbirth, medicines as a pain killers. on RVI birthing Centre is on the ground floor and deliveery unit on first floor, so od somethig goes wrong they will transfer you upstairs.

Oh okay! What the the delivery suite? What is it like?
