This could have been me writing this. My baby is apparently measuring big and they have given me some options to be induced at 39 weeks or have a c section. After the dr explained the risks of birthing a larger baby (shoulder dystocia) I’m completely freaked out and leaning towards a c section.
What would be the point of ecv if you have a planned c section? I've got a baby measuring 93rd centile for abdominal circumference (probably due to gestational diabetes), I've been told tummies will squish so not an issue and I'm planning a homebirth. By the way induction also increases risk of shoulder dystocia
@Ashleigh that’s interesting to hear. The dr did even say by looking at me he doesn’t think I’m carrying an abnormally large baby and that scans can be inaccurate at this point in pregnancy.
Scans are notoriously wrong. I had a scan at 33 weeks and he was measuring on the 97th percentile.. but I knew this wasn’t accurate and trusted my instincts, they were talking about c section and I kept arguing they weren’t correct.. anyway I’ve been for two further scans recently which out baby on 60th percentile… my baby was also breech at 35 weeks but turned by himself.. they often switch it up and change right before they come out, so unless your genuinely worried, I personally wouldn’t agree to any C sections x
I've found this post really helpful for the big baby question- https://www.instagram.com/p/CosVO8Ot7xa/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
I also have baby with AC measuring 95th centile, putting them 85th centile overall for weight! They suggested induction between 39-40 weeks for babies measuring this (but can be 20% each way). They tend to worry more about a larger head circumference than tummy as tummy can squish!
All 3 of mine measured big. First one come out OK. 2nd shoulder dystocia. So 3rd induced with his large belly came out fine. This one is also set to be a big boy so will let you know x
Hi, I had my LO back in November and at my 39 weeks growth scan his abdominal circumfrance was no longer even on the scale and they had him measuring at 9lb, around the 99th centile. I got induced the next day and had a vaginal birth and only pushed for 20 minutes and he was out. He ended up being 7lb 15oz. I'm not saying they're wrong but I would just be open minded he may not be as big as what they're suggesting and just choose what you feel comfortable with
