Jessop Wing

I just made the terrible decision to read the reviews of Jessop Wing and it’s freaked me out! Has anybody got any recent positive experiences that they can share to help me out??

Hi hun I had a c section surgery last October there and it was an amazing experience the staff the nurses doctors don’t have words to thank them enough

I gave birth 7 months ago and had a wonderful experience the whole way through my pregnancy at jessops. I think there are good and bad experiences wherever you go but you always hear about the bad more 🤍

@Fabiola thank you! I’m thinking of having an elective c-section so that helps.

Been with Jessops since the start of our pregnancy and we live 45 minutes away. We are now 33 weeks in to our pregnancy and the care and compassion has been amazing from all staff. Been in a number of times with reduced movement and every single time they’ve been amazing and very reassuring 😊 x

Hi lovely! I went into labour at 24 weeks last summer with my twins and they were amazing! Xxx

I recently transferred my care from Rotherham to Jessops and they have been so much better in my opinion ! Very on the ball with things and I feel so much more comfortable now. Everywhere will have good and bad experiences for everyone but hopefully you’ll have good ones. I feel much more at ease about giving birth now I’m at Jessops xx

I just had my little girl on 17th April and they were honestly amazing! Ended up being emergency c section as her heart rate kept dropping. But honestly felt so well looked after. We got readmitted few days after as I was struggling with breast feeding and although she didn’t have symptoms her bloods came back showing dehydration. We were also put on a feeding plan as she’d lost too much weight after birth. Stayed in for another two nights and all the midwives were brilliant and have so much help and advice to me and my partner to help get her feeding sorted and her weight back up!!

I’m literally there right now after giving birth and it’s been amazing! I literally cannot fault my delivery, things happened that weren’t to my birth plan but it has been truly wonderful

I'm not saying I had a great experience. But that was in 2021 (when there were still a lot of covid rules). I am aware they are working really hard to address the staffing issues and are learning from the mistakes made. Just make sure you and your birth partner discuss your birth so they can advocate for you as well as yourself. It's almost 2 years since my experience so I am thankful other people are having better recent experiences! xx

Had my little one in March and all the nurses and doctors were amazing! Had a c section and my whole experience was just the best!

I had home births with both of mine so the midwives came to me, they were great. I also visited for reduced movement and other issues during pregnancy and although it was busy the staff we're fantastic. All of my friends have had their kids at Jessops; 3 emergency c-sections, 1 VBAC, 1 planned c-section, 4 vaginally births - all have had nothing but good things to say about the midwives and other staff even with complex deliveries.

I gave birth a year ago so not so recent but the staff were amazing. Being in a teaching hospital meant lots of students available for lots of extra support. They were fantastic! We had some complications discovered in the postnatal checks and the NICU staff were incredible too.

@Laura I had an elective section and did a birth plan. It was a birth plan because I have mental health problems but if you ask, I'm sure they'll be accessible anyway. Especially if you've for anxiety I had a wonderful experience. They were SO kind and attentive. I read the same reviews and was terrified. Remember that people that have bad experiences are likely to complain and the bad things stick in your head more than the good things you hear. I remember all of the horror stories I was told about birth and very few, if any, of the wonderful ones I could cry thinking about how special they made the experience.

^that was on March 7th btw

I gave birth there in February and it was amazing, the staff couldn't do enough to help us! Try to remember that people only tend to review NHS services if they have a bad experience so it's not reflective of the general population.

I had my little boy there 11 days ago, ended up on consultant led care with an induced birth and my midwife Chloe was absolutely incredible, she stayed with us over her shift and stayed in the room with us the whole time and coached my through contractions and even went out of her way to try give me the relaxing birth I wanted even though I was changed to consultant led, she brought in relaxing lights etc! Then after she stayed with us whilst the handover happened, she communicated everything and made the whole Labour and birth process wonderful! We were discharged same day, and all other midwives and doctors from birth to discharge gave us amazing care! Our babies heart rate was dipping during contractions but we had a specialist doctor and senior midwife keep coming in to check it didn’t put baby into distress too so overall I couldn’t be happier with the care we had and I hope you receive the same treatment and experience 🥰xx

Thank you to everybody who took the time to reply! It’s really reassuring reading your messages.

@Charlene I have gestational diabetes so I am seriously considering an elective c-section as they are advising me to deliver at 39 weeks. There just seems too many variables with an induction and it stresses me out.

10 months ago I had my little boy there and felt the same as you but honestly they were amazing! I was on the midwife led side and it was great I couldn't have asked for a better labour experience.

I gave birth under a year ago at Jessops and I wouldn’t fault them. I was in for 36 hours of active labour and each midwife I had was amazing, an advocate and listened to what I wanted. I ended up having an emergency c-section and was coached and supported through it. I couldn’t fault them. On the downside, you could tell they were understaffed and busy, but they made sure that it never affected their care. That’s the only thing. But I wouldn’t even class it as negative towards my experience, more just to note they had a lot going on

I had a great experience on April 6th, did a stand-alone post in this forum as well as was also nervous reading the reviews. I had a water birth and everyone / thing was amazing (ok maybe apart from when I phoned up and they suggested I stay at home longer with a paracetamol and bath, but when I said I wanted to go in they were fine with it)

I’m a first time mum & I gave birth in December and honestly I had this worry but everyone I saw there was amazing and all the staff I saw was lovely - couldn’t of wished for better staff. My midwife was absolutely amazing, she was incredible! The only fault I had was the women doing the catering after birth. The midwife left me and my partner lots of treats and cartons of juice and the catering lady told us off for having them even though it was our midwife that left them. I also asked for a cup of tea for my partner as we had been in the hospital 10 hours at this point and she told him no but she was so rude about it - make sure you take snacks and pack up things to eat for your partner

@Ellis Victoria yeah, I’ve heard this!

I had a great experience at Jessops throughout my pregnancy and my birth late last year. I had complications and they were brilliant, and the night midwives were fantastic, they were obviously busy but they really cared for us. I hope everything goes well for you 🙏🏼

We had our son through their assisted conception unit and then delivered by emergency C section there last July. They were beyond incredible, they looked after all three of us phenomenally and I couldn't praise them high enough!
