I never managed to identify when I ovulate :(
@Mol part of the issue is that I have periods every 3-6 months

@Becks i was in the same boat so bought an OvuSense sensor which I wear every night like a tampon. It measures BBT and tells you when you’re ovulating.

I was also going long stretches without ovulating so went to a private fertility clinic and they've prescribed me Metformin and Letrozole. Now I ovulate predictably, but haven't got pregnant yet
You’re supposed to ovulate once within your monthly cycle, usually around 14 days after your period. I used to test from day 5 after my period until the end of the cycle or until I got a positive ovulation result. Also make sure you’re using clear blue or something that you can trust.
