Pinderfields birth centre induction?

Hi everyone, I know this is a bit niche but hoping someone can help. Does anyone know whether you’re able to give birth at Pinderfields birthing centre, after having been induced? I’ve tried to find information online but it seems it varies from hospital to hospital.

I think it depends on your circumstances. I was induced but needed extra monitoring so I wasn’t allowed to use the birthing pool x

My midwife said not something to do with how closely you have to be monitored

I was induced and had to be on the labour ward due to me being high risk X

I birthed at pinderfields and was induced, they told me no I couldn’t do birthing centre as the risk of emergency intervention is higher with induction so you have to be on Labour ward. I’m glad as I ended up with an emergency C-section. Also be aware if you have the hormone drip you aren’t allowed to eat- I didn’t know this until I was in the room. Thankfully I had a really nice midwife who got me tea and 6 pieces of toast to eat before we got going 😂

I wanted a water birth but was due to be induced next day so they said I'd have to be on ward and wouldn't get my water birth next thing I know lo arrives day before on my landing

I was induced and had to give birth on the labour ward - ended in emergency c section so definitely glad even though I really wanted to be at the birth centre xx

It's worth thinking about if you want to be induced, the benefits vs risks of induction and the benefits vs risk of birthing in the birth center. Everyone is individual though and you can choose what works for you. It's worth discussing your options with them, for example would the be happy for you to labour in the birth center if the only steps of induction that you needed were the pessary/gel/balloon to soften your cervix and if you required the next step on the induction ladder you'd be willing to move to the labour ward etc. The "rules" are only guidelines.

You can request to give birth wherever you like, it’s your rights. They can ‘recommend’ that you go on to labour ward but depending on why you were induced first time it’s worth standing your ground! Check out ‘birthrightsorg’ on instagram 👍🏼

Dr Sara Wickham has a brilliant website too full of really good, science backed advice.

I went in on Saturday to be induced stayed there til he was born Tuesday morning

@Lizzie I wish I knew this, I was set on the birthing centre at pinderfields too and was advised to move to the labour word due to ‘borderline high blood pressure’ i wasn’t induced or anything. I caved and agreed, I would of been fine in the birthing centre. Going to keep this in mind for future x

I was planned to go to the birth centre however I was induced at 37 and then classed as high risk so I was put on the labour ward to be closely monitored x

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate all your replies. I have an appointment with my midwife tomorrow and so far she’s been very much an advocate for people being able to choose the birth they want so I feel like I’ll get a balanced answer from her.
