@Katie O yeah I've always just said thank you when he hands me things but my FIL has recently just starting saying "day TA" everytime he hands something to JackđŹ
@Laura yes i would cringe slightly as i personally just donât like it, i have made a joke of it when itâs happened at nursery with one of the teachers, i just said âooh no we donât say ta in our house, itâs always thank youâ!
I personally hate âTaâ, I teach my LG to say thank you properly and hate it when others encourage her to say âTaâ itâs a whole thing to unlearn and relearn if that makes sense. At the moment (23 months) she says âTankooâ but sheâs getting there. Your child, donât feel bad for wanting them to learn a certain thing/way that you want it done.
@Sarah thats what I think, he'll just thank you however he says it till he learns properly! It's just a bit difficult for me to turn around to my FIL and tell him not to say it.
I use ta and my girl said this at about 12 months. But now she says thank you. It didn't stop her learning thank you
Nursery taught my girl to say âtaâ and itâs nothing I would normally say but I adopted it and used it myself even though Iâm not a particular because it was helping her to communicate and itâs what she understood. Within a few months though she has started to learn to say thank you, without my trying hard to teach it to her or anything. I think itâs just a short passing phase.
Meant to say- not a particular fan
Agree Rebecca this was a bit judgey for no reason really, just don't teach your child ta if you don't like it đ¤Ł
I wasn't judging, I was asking if there is a benefit over just learning thank you because if there is I would use it but it not I won't?!
Same, iâm not keen on Ta, i wouldnât want anyone else saying Ta as thank you when she hands them something etc either as i donât want her learning Ta. my older daughter whoâs 13 doesnât say ta ever either. My Lg does say âthanksâ not quite thank you yet.
