10 Month Regression?

My baby has always gone down in the cot well, self settled and fallen to sleep with no fuss, however all of sudden has decided that she doesn’t want to go to sleep.. starts to cry and scream when I leave the room, I’m trying to stick to the same bedtime routine etc but wonder what I’m doing wrong? I used to lay her in the cot, she would self settle after about 10/15 mins and I would leave the room straight away as me being in there seemed to be a distraction for her, but now she starts crying as soon as I leave the room and I’m having to sit in the chair whilst she lay in the cot and sing to her until she falls asleep, am I building a rod for my own back in doing this? Or is this just what regression is like and things may go back to normal in time? She usually goes down around 7/7:30 but now is not falling asleep until 9/9:30pm? I guess I just need reassurance that things will go back to normal just worry that me being in the room too much is going to become her new norm at bedtime?

I feel like I went through similar with my girl, would of been around the 10 month age as well. The brighter evenings didnt help, i would stand rocking her for hours to get her to sleep, or even just sitting in the room like you're doing. Then all of a sudden one day she just pointed at her cot and i put her down and walked out and she put herself to sleep and from then on we continued to put her down and walk straight out and she'd self settle (untill a recent regression but that hasnt lasted long) so just speaking from personal experience, Ive found if they've had the ability to self settle before then generally can go back to it, but its always so hard to know what the right thing to do is to help them in that moment without causing futures issues

Thank you so much! Just hearing from someone else that it has happened to makes me feel like I’m not going round the bend 😂🙈 il persevere and hope it passes too, makes me so upset when she is distressed and just wants mummy to comfort her x
